Whoo-hoo! It was the C21 Format awards last night. Do you remember when they used to award best format to The Bank Job and Take On The Twisters? Great days.
The two awards of interest, best Competition Reality Format went to Get The F*ck Out Of My House (the asterisk is a ‘u’ btw), where a hundred people share a house until one by one they can’t take it and leave, with the last person left becoming the winner. We briefly discussed it in comments around Christmas.
But best studio gameshow went to a show called Doctors vs Internet, where a team of doctors race against a team of civilians armed only with Google to try and diagnose people’s problems. It was getting 50% shares in Norway (reminder: Norway), but it’s already been commissioned for a second series on the Netherlands’ NPO1, it says here. Here’s a page on it, and here’s a video:

Keshet has bought German production company Tresor TV (used to be responsible for Popstars and Germany’s Next Topmodel) and will try to adapt and develop fictional shows (mainly TV Series that aren’t miniseries apparently) and some Keshet non-fiction formats.
And 500 Questions with Günther Jauch could be the first version with 500 questions! The second season will contain 10 episodes and air this summer.
Incredible!
We are already getting stuff about this year’s Fort Boyard, here’s a Q and A with the show’s creative director:

Sounds like minor tweaks to the last year, which was successful. Which seems fair enough really. Sounds like the prisons are getting a revamp. There is a contingency if a team goes clear in getting the keys – they go to Blanche with the opportunity to win a bonus clue.
Amused that some of the celebs weren’t happy if they didn’t get to “do” the treasure room, which is why the prisoners get to escape.
Interesting note on why they didn’t do Vertigo & Dependancy much even if it was a really cool game. (“Because it takes away two players for too long, breaking the team dynamic” if anyone don’t wanna read)
Looks like more water games this year, and possibly more returns. Phantom Train’s (disappointingly) staying on. Stage 215’s getting a revamp. Sounds like it’ll be all new duels in Council…?
Other interesting production decision note – they mentioned a bit that they don’t like ‘static’ games (why they tossed Library) which kinda makes sense considering new games they add, and which ones they’ve removed.
PSST! Look, Nick doesn’t know I’m posting this, but I’m planning something for the Schlag den Star live stream this weekend and I need YOUR help. If you have a few minutes to spare (and you aren’t Nick, Dan, Scott or Lewis!) then please email me via thelab@qwertyuiop.co.uk and I’ll fill you in. Thanks!
