Don’t forget that quintessential weekend show Only Connect‘s baffling move to Fridays at 8:30pm (except in Northern Ireland where it’s 9:30pm) after Mastermind starts tonight, except for viewers in Wales where it’s on Saturday nights instead. Obviously.
No I don’t know why a popular and successful show such as Only Connect now has a schedule as complicated as its questions.
Hopefully the BBC will see sense – I doubt it though! Such a waste of a great, great show
OC does really well for them after University Challenge, about 2.5m usually, but it’s always the first thing moved when something comes along which just strikes me as a bit rude really. I was pretty sure An Island Parish did perfectly well at 9pm last year, this week it’s half a mill down on OC usually gets.
Only Connect does tend to get watched wherever it is in the schedules. Anyone know how it rated when it was at 7:30 for Hive Minds and Nigella?
Back to autumn 2015, when Only Connect moved from 8.30 to 7.30, making way for Nigella. The show lost about 370,000 viewers per episode.
Shows at 7.30 wobbled around 2 million viewers, those at 8.30 were around 2.4 million.
These seven shows were the seven least-viewed episodes of the series.
(Figures are BARB 7-day consolidated ratings, combine SD and HD.)
It looks like this did two mill last night which is not a disaster by any means, but I don’t know if that’s the straight 8:30 average across all regions (which will include the rugby in Wales) or adding up the regional totals from the regional timeslots or what.
