Thanks to those who have pointed out that Countdown reaches episode 5,000 today, and has indeed been comissioned to run through to 2012. After the initial apparent fall, ratings have stabilized and risen, presumably.
Despite the fact it’s not a show I follow avidly (proper job, and all that) I am pleased for them, because having visited the show being recorded the production team seemed like a very professional outfit with a proper love for the show, and it’s also one in the face for everyone who thought Jeff and Rachel wouldn’t work. Well… evidently it has.
And the word “fucked” came up in anagram form on a letters board the other day! Brilliant.
Going to see Countdown for a second time in A few weeks. Tuesday 13th April
without being too self-promotional, me and my friend talk about the countdown ‘fucked’ debarcle on our podcast today: http://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4358
also last weeks one had some game show referenced crap as well…
Judging by what one sees of “Countdown” on YouTube, it is easy to see why it has lasted this long. It’s a solid show, with a solid format. It has a play-along value that rivals our “Jeopardy!”. It has survived several hosts, each of whom has brought something different to the party.
I look forward to showing off examples of “Countdown” to those of my friends who are into gameshows.
It just goes to show you–if it is really good, it will last!
I hope, in about 30 years time, to be host of Countdown. Probably with electronic set and virtual contestants.
Did anybody get FUCKED?
I would like to clarify that I have always thought Jeff and Rachel did an awesome job, it’s a far better show and more watchable now than in the Des years.
No. They were bothy wimpy wusses and went for fives. Pathetic, isn’t it?
Susie got two sevens, DOGFACE and DOCKAGE.
Minor crisis averted.
Didn’t she win the Big Brother nobody watched?
I believe that was Cameron.
OOOHHHH
