Here’s a suggestion that the format of the air rifle competition could be adapted into a gameshow.
I’ve just remarked that fencing is the The 21st Question of the sporting world i.e. because it’s complicated.
What have YOU noticed?

As I said on twitter, Fencing is clearly Duel.
Kayak is Million Pound Drop because things go down and you have to put them in the right place. [Also you can do it with couples and singles].
Modern Pentathalon is the Krypton Factor, obvs.
I feel like Swimming is Pointless (heh heh) – something everyone reckons they’re good at but probably aren’t, knowledge we used to teach in schools, also something about the rhythm and regular pace of the swimmers in the pool reminds me of the column going down. Also then The Code can be syncro swimming.
Football is Fort Boayard because it’s hugely popular, globally ubiquitous, and the UK only did it once.
Weightlifting is Reflex because the action only lasts 2 seconds.
I’d have thought the fencing was Quizzlestick, there were so many moments where it basically went ‘it doesn’t count, it’s not a general knowledge question’.
Sorry for the downtime, minor issue but not one I could sort until I got home from work.
Archery is either Bullseye or The Golden Shot, I’m not sure which is closer…
There’s also the game where the players each have a pair of little sticks that they flap around, can’t see each other and are sort of trying to get to the other end while not bumping into each other:
Sculls.
