What’s the best game on The Genius?

By | June 7, 2016

Whilst we wait to see if Posessed have/will be able to sell The Genius, the best reality game of the last five years, to a UK channel, somebody has set up a poll to determine what the best game from the last four series are.

You can vote here.

Apparently there is also a Reddit thread with regards to this but it looks like it’s now been deleted or something.

Here are our links to coverage of The Genius:

Whilst we’re here Big Brother launches tonight at 9pm on Channel 5, best of luck to all parties involved.

In terms of Main Match Quality:
    S4 > S3 > S2 > S1

In terms of Death Match Quality:
    S2 > S3 > S1

    In terms of Cast Quailty:
    S4 > S3 > S1 > S2

As an organizer of voting, I must start asking real questions. Why everyone likes Miner Game but hates God’s Judgement? Like, both had similar gimmicks, but God Judgement’s “dice can be taken apart” montage was the biggest Eureka moment in the history of television.

The thing with God’s Judgement is once you solve it, it’s perfect win. The drama is lost as soon as the first three dice roll are the same.

In Open Pass, even the a-ha moment is not guaranteed win. If Jinho screwed up with the shuffle or the “top-bottom” reading, he still can flunk. Jinho’s idea is also out of the box like the 5-5.

Miner Game also has alternative solution beside “dig yourself to richness” like Dongmin demonstrated and “dig yourself to richness” is not optimal.

Why it’s not optimal is your exercise.

Yes, God’s Judgement is *clever* but I’m not sure it’s hugely fun and is always going to suffer from comparisons to Open Pass (also it was solved in about ten minutes).

Miner Game had a nice mountain.

I didn’t think the games from S2 were all that great compared to the others, although I also think they were still trying to adapt to the extended running time.

The Miner Game had an extremely clever over-game which would have worked well if the mining had been fair and /still/ worked well if a lot of people found the secret (circa Horror Race 2).

OP was quite a meh game if the shuffle thing wasn’t there and would still have been interesting if a lot of people found it (difficulty of getting 10 cards).

GJ was really dull before people took the dice apart, basically all people were doing was looking for a secret there. Also, even after that there was only really 3 results you could get (a 66, 83, or 100% win rate) so still not that interesting beyond the point of Can someone get a 100% configuration.

Also, thanks everyone – 17 votes in less than three days is a fantastic result!
I may actually make voting shorter and stop it this Sunday.

The voting for Week One ended. Thank you very much to everyone who voted.

Like I mentioned, this week’s voting system is super complicated, but I tried to explain it as easy as possible. Explanation and results of Week One can be found here: http://bit.ly/BestFromTheGeniusW1R
Rankings are all randomized, to keep tension until the final. But, for my own entertainment, I can reveal, that Blackout Games both Main and Death Match scored 9th and 12th in their groups.

Since Week Two we’re just voting for most favorite games, and those with the least points will lose. Everything is explained clearer on the voting’s page.

It’s interesting how both “predict the public” Betting RPS and Sun, Moon, Star is out.

So I come from Greece and in about two-ish months I’ll be moving to Scotland. Ever since I heard that the genius MIGHT be coming to the UK, I really wanted to apply for it to be a contestant. Does anyone know the general conditions that applicants must fulfill to be able to apply for the show (eg. Nationality, profession etc.)?

        Thanks!

After doing some digging around, I found that some other applications also required for eligible candidates to have lived in the country hosting the show (e.g US, UK etc) for at least one year.

Is there a possibility of that happening? If so, I’m f****d lol!

Actually to present a more open-ended question (and not fill this comment thread wwith useless junk lol), what are the weirdest eligibility criteria that could show up?
