It’s the last EVER Schlag den Raab on Saturday

By | December 14, 2015

Now seems as good a time to remind you as any that it’s the 55th and final EVER Schlag den Raab EVER (until inevitable one-offs in years to come and Raab gets bored of not being in telly, I reckon) this Saturday from 7:15/8:15 (on the continent) and we will be here to cover it LIVE! There’s €1.5m on the line and musical guests yet to be announced. We’re pulling for Robbie Williams reprising his role of not understanding what’s going on.

Join us then, or after the Strictly final if you want because it’s not like we won’t still be going. But do join us.

Agreed there will be inevitable one off specials but nevertheless this will be the saddest farewell since the retirement of Tomhas Gottschalk from Wetten Das four years ago this month

I wonder if ProSieben will just turn Schlag Den Star into the sprawling 3+ hour live event 6 times per year, and try and get das Raab to host it.

And related to Mr D.’s comment above – what did Tom Gottschalk do next after he left hosting duties on Wetten Dass? Was he given a nice pre-recorded chat show on ZDF, or just left the tv presenting game entirely?

It was on ARD but you are right. And there are still some legal problems with this, because WDR (the part of the ARD that was responsible for the show) had to pay for all episodes planned even after cancelling the show. Therefore Gottschalk got paid for iirc 50 shows he has never presented, but since this is a public channel, criticisms were huge.

It’s repetitive, but series 7 of De Slimste premiered yesterday to 1,2 mln viewers, becoming the 3rd most watched show of the evening and increasing the timeslot with 500% compared to last week’s Monday!

A Twitter chum adds: “still not confirmed by the channel. But there are plans to get more games for younger audiences on France 3’s afternoons.”

The translated article is implying the head of the network had some issues with him- and apparently this isn’t her first controversy according to her (translated) wiki biography since she got appointed to the job earlier this year…

Only thing I can think of that’s equivalent is when Carol Vorderman was dumped from Countdown (and that was seven years ago, if you can believe it)…

And I notice on the forthcoming attractions on the BBC press office, ‘The Getaway Car’ a Dermot O’Leary hosted Top Gear-esque/driving game show starts airing Saturday 9th Jan on BBC One.

If you can’t be bothered to translate, contestants bet money on every question and if by question seven they have €10,000 or more, they can take half or they can gamble the lot on the “super million question” – a question where the answer is between 1 and 999 and the contestant has 10 seconds to guess the right answer given higher or lower clues by the host.
