Tonight, here, 9:30pm UK
Hurrah! Join us live on Youtube tonight from 9:30pm to 11pm as we explore the best of what the Jackbox Party Pack 2 (and some of JPP1) can offer. There will be a group of us broadcasting live from a Google Hangout but because of the nature of the games YOU will be able to have some input as well!
Affect our games! All you need to do is keep our livestream up and then on your second screen of choice go to www.jackbox.tv, put in the room code on the screen, add a name et voila. Please be aware that because of the lag you will need to follow prompts on your phone and watch the results on the screen. As a member of the audience you will get the chance to vote on answers, awarding points to the person who came up with the answer. Play along, you might make the difference!
What will we be playing? On the menu tonight in no particular order: Lie Swatter (true/false quiz, audience participation), Drawful (trying to draw unusual things), Fibbage 2 (fill-in-the-blank lying, audience participation), Quiplash XL (being witty to order, audience participation), Bidiot (strategy and perception) and Bomb Corp (speed logic and shouting). We won’t be able to play Earwax because we can’t stream sound in the Hangout regrettably (*).
I’ve got a decent amount joining me in the Hangout this evening but there may yet be room for more, especially if you’re female (as the panel is looking 100% male so far) – if you’ve got a microphone and a Google account hit me up on here or on Twitter and we’ll see what we can do to make it happen.
If you’re watching along you should also tweet us on #bbgn. Please be prepared for adult themes and language. If this goes well we will probably do it again in the future.
(*) Playing this with me screen-sharing on Google Hangouts is probably the most lo-tech way of doing this. For future reference is there a better way? I want lots of people on board live but watchable by anyone who wants to watch.
Great stuff, will definitely be doing this again in the future. Thanks to my guests and to the wonderful audience, we were up to almost 20 people playing along at one point, something like a 95% audience take-up, take that Million Pound Drop.
It being a game, you could livestream it on Twitch, with the players in a TeamSpeak/Raidcall/Discord server or Skype call.
(It’s basically the same as a Google Hangout, but you might get more relative strangers)
For what it’s worth, I have a Ventrilo server for World of Warcraft that doesn’t see significant use in the weekends. That said, Hangouts has the big advantage that it doesn’t require significant installation and streams directly to Youtube.
That’s very kind, I like Hangout’s simplicity. The only issues are that I can’t share the sound (although this isn’t a big deal) and that lag, always found it odd there’s none in the Hangout but it takes fifteen seconds or so to make Youtube when it’s basically the same thing. I might be willing to try something more complex if there’s enough upside, but it’d have to be significant.
Anyway looking at my diary the next one likely to be 7th or more likely 14th November. Details nearer the time!
Streaming directly on youtube has two disadvantages for German viewers: Since the GEMA (company that gets money for people who write/perform music) and youtube can’t reach a deal ever since, you can’t watch most of the music videos up there and you can’t watch live streams live. And the bigger reason why you can’t see live streams is a problem in German media law. As soon as someone has 500 viewers (on a regular basis) they need a broadcasting license. Since youtube can let you stream for more than 500 people, it’s not possible in Germany as well. That’s why we don’t have “youtube gaming” and many youtubers were really pissed off when they realised that.
That was great fun, will most definitely want to do that again in future. Hope my lagspikes weren’t too detrimental to everything.
STILL can’t believe Anita Sarkeesian lost out to 50 Cent on that Quiplash question 😀
But who is Anita?
She’s the woman on the end of the Gamergate business, IIRC.
I saw the entire Game Night while eating breakfast two hours ago. It is even fun when it’s not live. But I’m definitely going to try to be an audience member next time!
Great stuff! Glad you enjoyed it.
That crashing of Bidiots when screwing is a known bug by the way, apparently patches are coming to fix it.
Quite a large bug, surprised it got through really. Thanks.
It seems to me that there was a bit of a rush to assemble the pack for some reason, certainly there was a much bigger buildup this time last year.
