It’s getting lighter outside, but it’s getting heavy on the Board of Excitement, or something.
- The Bother Series of Poker Game 3 (Full Tilt, 2000 GMT/1500 Eastern, Sunday) – basically I’m missing flops and playing really badly, so it’s just free money. Let’s hope that no German bandits interrupt our game (thanks to David for the spam-filtered link). The page for Game 3 discussion is here. Edit: Congratulations to David for winning this, and unbelieveably we were attacked by German bandits. Oh man!
- Man In Box (All week, The Internet): I’m sort of not-quite addicted to this, but I am intrigued to see how it will all play out. Will it be break free… or breakdown?
- The Amazing Race (CBS, Sunday): The Cowboys are one of my favourite teams ever, I think. Although it was quite lucky that the tasks last week basically involved being a cowboy.
- We Are The Champions (CBBC, 4:30pm, Monday to Friday): Back for Sport Relief and repeated on BBC1 next week. Paddy MacGuiness hosts, swapping ‘Take Me Out’ for “away you go!” and celebrity coaches are promised.
- Pointless (BBC2, 4:30pm. Weekdays): The return of last year’s surprise sleeper hit with Alexander Armstrong and geek hero Richard Osman (presumably). It’s still 45 minutes, but there is one less couple so I don’t know how it’s going to work.
- Only Connect (BBC4, Monday, 8:30pm): Second quarter-final with the Brasenose Grads versus Tommy Scott And The Hitchikers.
- The Krypton Factor Grand Final (ITV1, 7:30pm, Tuesday) – Strange things are afoot – not only are there now proper adverts during the ad break, but it was actually advertised before Push the Button last night, despite not actually having been advertisied before now and the fact the ratings have consistently dropped over the series. I’m idly wondering if ITV are considering making a third series off their own back this year if Sage drop out. Anyway I was at the final so I know who wins, it’s a very exciting finish.
- Survivor (CBS, Thursday): This really has been tremendous so far. Although this weeks looks like another brawling-based challenge which seem to be getting more and more violent, which is increasingly uncomfortable viewing.
- Your Country Needs You (BBC1, 8:30pm, Friday): Yes, it’s time to vote for whoever is going to sing Pete Waterman’s Eurovision winning song this year. After last year’s successful series, this appears to be a one off vote.
- Solitary 4.0 (Fox Reality, Saturday): After a rather lacklustre previous episode, last week’s was once again tremendous featuring a bust-out of prison challenge (and OF COURSE the final key was hidden in the officer’s trousers that were hanging up – very Mole-like, which is interesting since US Mole had a similar task of its own a long time ago) and the return of the spin-lots-of-times-on-a-chair-until-you-can-take-no-more Challenge, this season with added mini-golf element. What’s not to like? I confidently predict this episode will be similar to the previous one, but with one less contestant.
…Umm… Second semi final?
Have I been unconscious for a month, because I thought last week was the first quarter final.
Thanks, changed.
Grrr, Ratings Bear is back from his hibernation. I see this website has had a change since I was around. It looks too “sky” for me, I will be speaking to Mr. Bother.
Ratings Bear will now give the ten regular posters on this site the ratings from last night.
Let’s Dance For Sport Relief – 6.97m (30.3%)
Who Dares Wins – 5.96m (25.2%)
Pass the Baton – 5.74m (24.4%)
This is Your Life II with Piers Morgan, featuring Cowellmeister – 5.61m (23.6%)
An excellent rating for Kernick Kerknowles, it secures their best rating since the first series finale in December 2007 and the best for a non In It to Win It lottery show since 2nd April 2009 (1 Vs 100).
Ratings Bear is disappointed with Anton Du Dec’s Pass the Baton, since internet opinion is weak for the show and losing to Kerknowles. He might be having them for Easter Sunday dinner, just as Ratings Bear had with Chris Tarrant and Millie whatshername in 2009.
It also proves Cowellmeister can still get decent ratings (and the best for Piers Morgan) when he is a guest. I wonder how many viewers will actually watch the uncut edit on Monday?
Ha ha ha, I just this minute went searching for the Push the Button figures last night.
The poor ratings for the FA Cup lead-in to Harry Hill lead-in probably didn’t help.
I must say it was delightful having In It To Win It back on the box, even if Nick Knowles looks to have grown a birds nest on his head.(Although, at least hes had a shave).
Very exciting stuff and I do like the ‘will they won’t they’ tension created by Nick at times (With the camera shots alternating between the teams before he goes ‘It IS on the list!’. Although was it just me or were there a hell of a lot more ‘possibles’ for the second money list than the first one?
The birds nest hair do Nick had was back in June, before he recorded Guesstimation, which was shown over the summer.
There was definitely loads on the second list but everybody knows Team GB won a shed load of medals at Bejing but nearly everybody doesn’t know who actually won them.
I know we won the coxless four yet again but I don’t know the names. Like 2004, I know Matt Pinsent was one of the four but I don’t know the other three.
Question for the more tech-savvy: I bought the season pass for Solitary on iTunes. I’m not at my desktop, but I’m on another computer with my name attached to the iTunes on it. If I were to download the new episode and watch it on this computer, would I still be able to redownload it or transfer it on my main computer? If not, I might need to go a week without watching.
To the best of my knowledge if you can download the music you’ve bought through iTunes onto that computer then you’ll be able to download the episode onto your main computer. Easy, low risk test there.
While I’m not sure that I’ve re-downloaded music on different computers before, I know I’ve been able to transfer (via flash drive) music before without any problems, so I’m hoping tv shows work the same way. If not, it’s a learning experience for us all. Aww.
I’m glad after 7 months locked up Who Dares wins has now come out blinking into the bright daylight.
However, dissapointed 12 Yard still haven’t got rid of that wreched Handle Gothic Bold font for the answer captions. It looks awful and when made small for long answers, can be difficult to read – and the decision to delay transmission till now makes the show look occasionally silly, by having all the sources of the question have a ‘as of March/April 2009’ caption on them.
But cant complain too musch if it keeps giving Mr A and Mr D a minor bruise in the BARB’s on a Saturday evening…
You think that was bad?
The episode of the second US version for GSN I went to see was taped in August 2008 and “Michael Jackson US number one singles” was one of the lists. By the time the episode finally aired, Michael Jackson was dead…
Don’t get me wrong, David I do like the show – and when it was recorded in London rather than packed in a crate with ‘do not open until Glasgow’ on it, I attended a recording and really enjoyed it, Knowlsey is a top bloke when the cameras aren’t running and didn’t keep disappearing during the breaks in recorded unlike some hosts (Mr Tarrant and Mr Carrott I’m looking at you here) but, the show should evolve and the first point about the font is 12 Yards problem – when the customer (I.e the BBC show it) and the long time between recording and transmission, isn’t.
I was also in the studio audience for the GSN version of the show, I think mine may have been either 6 or 7th in the run. At least in the UK version we get to see all the possible answers (even if you can’t read them because of font issues – or there’s too many of them and they have to show over 3 screens of them quicky) rather than Fred inviting us to go to GSN dot com for the full list – which became a standing joke with the audience in my recording and by the last round all of us were chanting it along with him.
