We’re all about social Christmas dinners this week, so here are some things to look forward to that we may or may not return to in the future:
- There’s a Perfection app out on iOS (tested) and Android. £1.49 (1000+ questions, in-app purchases for more questions) and initial playthroughs suggest it’s a really slick app that stays very true to the beat of the show. ‘Prize fund’ determined by everyone playing the app at the time. Pass and Play option not tested yet, but if you like the show I would find it fairly easy to recommend at this point. Also features extensive use of Nick Knowles’ face, so great news for fans of Nick Knowles’ face.
- It’s the Release the Hounds celebrity Christmas special feat. Diversity on Thursday, 9pm on ITV2.
- It’s Schlag den Raab 50 this Saturday! To celebrate I’ll be offering a viewer competition. The prize will be somewhere between £25 (most likely) and £100 (less likely), depending on how well fellow co-commentators do on a quiz. More details closer to Saturday!
Just Played Perfection for the very first time and as we,ve seen with The Chase and Tipping Point Barnstorm really know how to make you feel as if you’re part of the actual show
and having been in the studio audience for Perfection earlier this year it feels as real as a quiz show app can possibly be
My only real problem is that you don’t get to play as a Useuel Suspect
Vs mode works thus
Two player head to head first to a a set number of points-you can select anywhere between 1 and 5 is the winner if you don’t get Perfection and your opponent successfully changes your wrong answer them they win the point
The Perfection app is really good. The little factoids to explain the answers really make it too. Slight shame that sometimes the rules explanations are in audio (cribbed from the VT?) and other times in text. And on my phone, the ‘didn’t achieve perfection noise’ comes in 1 second too late. Otherwise it’s extremely slick.
One clever feature is that, in the final six, it appears to skip over the questions you spent most time on and come back to them later. Though not foolproof, it does make you get a sweat on when it reveals all the other answers first.
Yep, I noted this on Twitter yesterday, although I’m *slii-i-ghtly* worried that the algorithm is just “do the correct answers first, then go back to the wrong ones”. Clever, though.
Barnstorm really do have this sort of thing cracked don’t they? There is literally nobody doing gameshow apps as well as them.
The only issue I’ve noted so far is that, in the final, if the last statement to be revealed is one a Suspect helped you on, the Nick’s message before the reveal is based on your original answer, not the new one. It also lacks a question mark at the end, but those are both just minor annoyances.
it starts at 6:00
“make the gesture”
how stereotypical can you get! 😛

“C’est moi, James Blunt!”
In a potential last throw of the dice (the move to Fridays hasn’t been too bad, but the ratings have been down), The Amazing Race is doing somethings they haven’t done before for the …
-First, all the teams will be of one specific type- all of them are dating. Some long-term, some short-term, some VERY short-term……
-Because they are doing an “extreme blind date” twist. FIVE of the 11 teams will be teams that will meet for the first time at the start line..(I think it’s overkill- one or two would have been interesting, but five is too many)…
Oh, and if they don’t get Jack Jones to help with a promo for the season I’ll be VERY disappointed…
