Yeah, we’ve been doing that years before @midnight with Chris Hardwick. Anyway, as a public service now follows a list of shows and pilots in no particular order looking for contestants.
- The Guess List: Rob Brydon encourages celebrities to help civilians answer questions to win prizes. Get a move on, this closes tomorrow.
- I Know Best – Rhod Gilbert and a panel of celebrities attempt to fool an audience with stories. Whichever audience member does best wins – it’s that Liar reboot we’ve all been waiting for. Not for broadcast pilot records 27th February.
- Tuesday’s Child hypnotism game show – there has literally never been a worthwhile gameshow made out of hypnotism, but Tuesday’s Child are trying and this one at least promises fun physical and logical games. Auditions March 1st.
- The Link – Teams of two required to answer questions and find links between the answers, STV Production for the BBC. It’s that reboot of Connections we’ve all been etc etc. Closing date is Friday so get a move on.
- New Adventure Gameshow That May Or May Not Be Release The Hounds – groups of five friends between 18-28 required. Ignore the date on the site, applications extended to this coming Friday, and thank God for that as their photoshopping on Twitter has been a bit tedious. Incidentally German Release the Hounds on Pro Sieben next Saturday night #PROPERsaturdaynightentertainment.
- Break the Safe – Back for a second series despite everything. Apply now, closing date April 19th.
- Exciting BBC 2 quiz pilot – could be anything. Pairs required, apply now.
- Perfection – Closes March 6th.
- Pressure Pad – Closes April 14th.
- Only Connect – March 7th.
- Pointless – no closing date.
- Mastermind – no closing date.
- The 21st Question – Gethin Jones hosts a quiz for ITV where the last person standing after 20 questions faces a 21st question for up to £40,000. Details and applications, closing date 24th March (although auditions 7th/8th March so no clue how that’s going to work). Must be available for three consecutive days – interesting.
- The Chase – Casting for Series 8.
- Countdown – Permacasting.
- Deal or No Deal – Permacasting, I think.
Phew.
the Sanremo Italian Song contest ended and the singer chosen to represent Italy at the ESC is….
none of them -_-‘
the chosen artist is Emma Marrone, who didn’t even enter the national contest.
Am I right to think that the Sanremo contest is more popular than Eurovision within Italy?
I don’t think it’s intended to be a feeder competition.
you are absolutely correct. the Sanremo Festival is for Italians what the Super Bowl is for the Americans.
the Eurovision instead is largely ignored, much like England ignored the World Cup before the 50s
before 1970, the Sanremo winner automatically went to the ESC.
after that, a separate contest was held to choose the ESC entry.
nowadays, a committee picks the entrant regardless of their Sanremo ranking.
this is the first time that the national rep was chosen from outside all contests.
