We’ve hit a rich seam of news. Hold on tight!

  • When you think afternoon quiz, what do you want from a host? You want gravitas with a lightness of touch of course. Therefore we can think of no better choice of host for ITV’s upcoming afternoon quiz Ejector Seat than the one, the only Andi Peters! Instead of pushing the big button to start the X Factor winner’s CD being manufactured, he’ll be pushing the big button to tip a losing contestant’s chair backwards. And you can watch this recording up in Manchester over the next few weeks if you fancy it, tickets at SRO.
  • Chocolate Media (a branch of NBC Universal) have a new daytime quiz lined up for ITV called The 21st Question, where ten contestants face-off against each other in a general knowledge quiz but only the last person left standing will get to answer the 21st question for the cash prize. Gethin Jones is hosting and it’s ten episodes in a sixty minute slot, so likely to be one of this year’s The Chase summer replacements then. Just under three minutes a question maths fans, so expect lots of “tension”.
  • Applause Store had a show up this morning called The Link filming in Glasgow (although AS seems to have gone down at time of writing so you’ll just have to trust me), where you answer questions and have to figure out the link between the answers. We liked this when it was called Connections and on in the eighties.
  • Pointless is filming a bunch of new episodes in variously in March through to May at Elstree. Tickets SRO.
  • Finally there’s a new BBC3 panel game called Junk hosted by Joe Lycett where comedians try and win unwanted items bought in from the audience. What looks like a pilot films at Wimbledon March 11th.

Anyone else instantly think Avanti when they saw the number 21 in that?

I know it isn’t, but still.

Channel 4 from Mon 17th Feb seems to be the new schedule suggested a while back.

    2:40 Countdown/3:30 DoND/4:30 CDWM/5:00 Coach Trip/5:30 Superstar Dogs: Countdown to Crufts

The Crufts thing apparently lasts three weeks so it’ll be interesting to see whether it’s a temporary three week thing due to that or whether something will take the 5:30 slot thereafter – if so what? (Could it be 15 to 1 so soon?)

It’ll also be interesting to see how all the shows fair – Tipping Point has a new series from 4pm on the same day, seemingly.
