Hanging on the telephone

By | November 18, 2013

Right, I’ve not listened to this yet, it’s Candice Cannes’ Are You Ready, which seems to star Noel Edmonds and various Deal or No Deal inspired phrases:

Is it better or worse than Echobass’ You Are The Weakest Link?

All we need now is someone to do a dance tune of Bradley Walsh corpsing over Fanny Schmaler, and Alexander Armstrong doing his repetitive Pointless catchphrases.

Game Show Central have a brief interview with Marc Sylvan. I cannot decide whether I can be quite catty enough to say “Relatedly…” or not.

Past shows I’ve worked on include The Million Pound Drop, Total Wipeout, Pointless, Golden Balls, The Bank Job, Prize Island, the reboots of Catchphrase and Fifteen To One, Tipping Point: Lucky Stars, Britain’s Brightest and 101 Ways To Leave A Gameshow amongst others.

I wouldn’t say that his work is entirely free of tunes that do it for me, but he’s no Ed Welch. (Actually, that may not be being fair; his web site has a fuller list.)

I can’t decide about Game Show Central. In theory I ought to approve. In practice, I suspect I’m jealous of the people who get to write it and do not approve that they are not Any Of Us. (Unless they actually are Some Of Us under pseudonyms, in which case I might think again.) The standard grumble that “gameshow” (sic) is, at best, very ugly use of language applies.

Oh, he‘s the person responsible for the nails-on-chalkboard that was Divided. I’ve changed my mind, I was being more than fair.

Yes I want to like it and it’s got some really good stuff on it but as an official Endemol thing I’m not sure I can ever love it, like I suspect it’ll try and influence opinion by stealth.

This is shaping up well. Can it be too much to ask for more Eun Ji Park? <3

I’m almost certainly going to give it a Wie is De Mol-esque discussion page come December I think.

Intrigued that it seems to go out 11pm local time!

Lovely. I thought Eun Ji was a fantastic player and especially enjoyed her reactions to the game announcements – did she give ‘Bandage Man’ his nickname?

I would also like to see Kim Kyungran back for more, although it doesn’t seem that we will see either of them.

So far they’ve been concentrating on the men in the preview clips. I don’t *think* any women have been confirmed or denied?

I second that; I think Kyungran was also a great player who deserves another go. I’m also glad to see Jinho return for completely different reasons, namely that his antics in the first season were amusing and clever at the same time.

And something random I found: The same network appears to have turned the vocals on Rock Band into a game show.
