- CELEBRITY SQUARES REBOOT! A pilot presumably, filming 12th November. Tickets Applausestore.com. I’m not going to be able to make this, so if you go then let us know what you think.
- Nina Conti’s Speak For Yourself films 1st of December. It sounds a bit like Mr and Mrs with puppets. Tickets SRO.
Both of those are filming at The London Studios.
I saw this grazing the audience tix websites this morning.
Do we know who is hosting, and where it’s likely to land? Or is it studio hire job with a view to hawking around the networks?
Nice new colourful reboot show logo though. Lots of coloured squares, and a good visual play on a square and the Q of the word Square. No doubt done with one eye on the inevitable gambling websites slot machine tie-in..
If I was a betting man, and I am, then I’d bet on ITV which would follow the current trend (although I suppose there’s an outside chance of Channel 5 – they almost did their own version about ten years ago).
Don’t know for host, more likely Walsh or Schofield than Mulhern or Kay I’d have thought. Needs someone who can be a good foil.
Dont’t write off them using it as a second ITV [1] vehicle for Keith Lemon to complement Keyhole. Or maybe even Paul O’Grady to compliment his short chatshow runs. Does ‘Hip Hop’ Squares still run in the United States? As outside bet MTV, doubt that though.
The last new episode of Hip Hop Squares ran last December. While never officially cancelled, they don’t seem to be in any hurry to make new episodes.
Doubt it’ll be O Grady, he hates doing gameshows, although wouldn’t rule him out as a centre square. Lemon is plausible, although I get the impression they’re doing it ‘properly’.
If it’s another vehicle for Keith Lemon, then I will NOT be watching. I hate that man with a passion >_<
If it was Keith Lemon I woukd be 95% sure it would be mentioned in the advert. Might be a square though.
Apparently it’s going to be hosted by Warwick Davies. Unexpected.
He was being mooted for something I was working on a few years back so it’s not a complete surprise to me.
According to UK Gameshows.com it will be on ITV and there is no mention of it being a pilot.

Obviously CS natural home has always been ITV just hope they have a decent choice of presenter and one that probably the late great Bob Monkhouse would have approved of! 🙂
Well they’ve probably added that after it came up yesterday, and the fact it’s only one recording heavily suggests it’s a pilot.
The Children in Need Only Connect special has announced its celebs: Clare Balding, Clive Anderson and Simon Jenkins play Alice Arnold, Konnie Huq and John Finnemore.
Three-time world memory champion Ben Pridmore writes on his Facebook, and this is about as relevant as German TV news can be without featuring the word Raab:
Were the “celebrity squares” actually built as they appear on screen or is it a bit of University Challenge style trickery.
It was real – video effects weren’t that good at the time! Also, sometimes celebrities would walk down the stairs into other people’s squares.
The 18-foot high game board originally cost £22,000 to build.
