Big Brother starts on Thursday June 13th on Five at 9pm. But also a second launch night on Friday 14th June at 9pm. What does this mean? WHAT IS THE SECRET? Each 90 minute ep is followed by an hour long Bit On The Side with Rylan and AJ Odudu.
Intrigue comes in the form of The Million Pound Drop which has been suggested to start on Friday 14th on C4 at 9pm for a ninety minute opener. That’s already a fairly challenging timeslot without facing a live BB show (traditionally its performed better as a 10pm show, especially on Fridays). With its twists that we’re not quite convinced by? I fear for it, or at least as far as I care about it.
Meanwhile young comic Matt Richardson is Caroline Flack’s new co-host for The Xtra Factor! Nope, me neither.
In other news Brooke Burns confirmed as host of GSN’s version of The Chase, with Mark Labbett the Chaser. Brooke Burns, off of Baywatch (and the US version of Dog Eat Dog). You never know! *bets against series two*
I’m sure MPD has been on at 9pm on a Friday before. I’m not sure about the twists, but we will see what happens.
Did you know on the last few series there were different opening titles depending on whether the show went out at 9 or 10pm. The difference was subtle and in the timecode overlay, and I wondered if anyone ever noticed it. I definitely used the 9pm one several times though.
Great fact!
I’ve always associated the show at its peak to go out at 10pm on Friday, although it didn’t seem to do too badly going out at 9pm on Saturday. It’s certainly dead at 8pm.
Well if you guys haven’t spotted it then I can’t imagine anyone has! Which makes me wonder if its just a tiny handful of people that even know about it.
When you say ‘I definitely used’; does that mean you work on the show Michelle M?
Used to work. I edited the VT’s for the last two Series (openers, inserts, end of series highlights and YouTube clips). Sadly tomorrow is my last day on it. I don’t know anything about the forthcoming series, other than what I posted from Broadcast magazine though.
I noticed it; but then I have a keen eye for detail.
Some changes at USBB- mainly to do with the feeds..
-After being with RealNetworks since Season 1, CBS is going inhouse this year- they’ll be doing the feeds on the networks website, CBS.com.
-They’ll still be doing BBAD, but instead of airing it on a Pay TV channel (Showtime 2), they’re moving it to basic cable (TV Guide Channel), so they won’t be able to get away with as much as they used to. They’re also cutting BBAD from 3 hours to 2 every night.
-Media Day is June 10th, we’ll probably start to get wind of the house and any twists about a week or so later once the HG’s are sequestered.
