It’s suppose to be contracted to December 2014. It’s not going away just yet,
Celebrity Family Fortunes is coming to RTL Germany. The “normal” people version was one of the most succesful daytime game shows in Germany ever (broadcast from 1991 to 2002 I think, the host Werner Schulze- Erdel is the German host with the most shows hosted ever), thus Daniel Hartwich (the new host) has a lot of pressure.I loved it when I was a child and it seems game shows might have a comeback in Germany…
Mr RTL strikes again. I bet you he’ll be hosting DSDS (German Pop Idol) next year, should it gets recommissioned. Daniel Hartwich already hosts;
Das Supertalent – Germany’s Got Talent
Ich bin ein star – I’m A Celebrity
Cash Crash – Gameshow that Brig likes
Let’s Dance – Strictly Come Dancing
They obviously hold him in high regard!
I’ve put in a form, so here’s hoping I get picked
In unrelated news, I’ve finally had a chance to play the pub quiz machine version of The Chase, after a friend of mine texted me about it some time back.
The gameplay is about 80% like The Chase with some liberties taken on the rules to make it more suited to a quiz machine environment.
So, to start, you have the Cash Builder. For every question you answer correctly, 25p gets added to your cash pot (what you’ll be playing for should you get to The Final Chase), BUT every question you get wrong takes 5 seconds of your minute away. In my first attempt I got £1, and got £1.50 on my second attempt.
Then, it’s the standard ‘Which Chaser will you get’ part, and in both games I got Shaun, then it’s onto The Chase proper. You’re shown your offers, a lower offer to drop down (50p on my first go, £1 on my second), an offer to move up (£3 on my first go, £3.50 on my second) AND an even bigger offer to go right to the top of the table (£6 on my first go, £6.50 on my second)! Both times, I just stuck to what I had earned.
The Chase is exactly the same as on the show, every time you and/or the Chaser is right, you move down the board.
Then, should you get through that, you’re on to The Final Chase and it’s totally different to how it’s done on the show. Instead of setting a target for The Chaser to catch, you’re GIVEN a target to reach (I only got to this stage on my second go, and the target was 17). You get 2 minutes to reach this target but in a diversion from the show, if you get a question wrong, the CHASER gets to push you back if they get the answer correct. Half-way along the track, there was a spinning gold ? and when I got to it, it gave me an extra £1 in my cash pot, so I was playing for £2.50. It took a while, but I managed to reach the target with about 8 seconds left and so I won the cash.
Overall, I like the game. It plays almost exactly like the TV show and if you have your wits about you, it’s winnable. The only problem is that with it being a pub quiz machine, I got rather a lot of questions about football which I know next to nothing about! So, if you happen to see it in your local, give it a go and see if you can beat it.
Seems a faithful reworking of it. I did wonder if reversing the roles for the final chase might somehow be an idea for when all 4 contestants fail to make it.
