They’re told to “say what you see,” well I see that Travis Penery and new panellist Sam Hodkin are talking to Lewis Murphy about the Catchphrase revival, amongst other things! OK Mr Chips, you can put the knife down now.
Our show discussion post on Catchphrase is here.

Only Connect (1.9m/8%)
Uni Challenge 2013 final (2.8m/12.1%)
I think that’s about par with what I’d expect. As a guide, if OC got ratings for BBC2 like that every week, it would be their 8th best-rating show.
Only Connect’s best rating EVER!
Do you get more specific minute-by-minute breakdowns? Given that it was effectively a Champion of Champions episode, I’d be very curious to know the extent to which there was a drop-off due to difficulty. Judging by the figures, I’d guess not that much…
Judging from the twitter reaction, it didn’t seem to go down too favourably to people who weren’t already in the OC crowd.
Of course, the twitter reaction is hardly a complete overview of the general viewing population.
I think the “two or three episodes to get it” rule is a useful one here.
If I were putting it on BBC Two, I’d run promos with “gettable” questions from previous series for early viewers, which might help people get a gauge of difficulty before switching on…
Also, I think the Twitter population are mostly there to snark at UC contestants, so you wouldn’t perhaps expect it to go down too well on a first outing. Perhaps a celebrity special around CiN/Comic Relief time might have been a better trial?
I did wonder, if this is its BBC2 introduction making it one of the hardest episodes made is probably not all that casual viewer friendly.
