The Chase is going to the US

By | April 9, 2013

8 episodes for GSN.  The suggestion is Mark Labbett of commenting-during-our-Schlag Den Raab-broadcasts fame will be the Chaser. Really pleased for everyone involved.

Buzzerblog’s fuller report here.

ALSO: The new Fifty 50 Show is out. Lewis Murphy chats to Tom Scott and David Howell about 5 Minutes to a Fortune‘s first episode and game show jobs. Amazing.

But the big question – Will they record in LA or SE1?

Given new Celb UK Chaser espisodes tape in July (source: Lost In TV) then I wonder as the set is up in Studio 1, then GSN will tap into the ex-pat database for the audience and record the 8 shows over here – plus having The Beast as The Chaser will help fill the seats as it’s not going to be a recording of compelete unknowns for the rest of the studio audience coming along from this side of the Atlantic.

And they do have previous, with the GSN US version of Who Dares Wins being recorded in a very full Studio 2 at LWT a few years ago.

They did manage to get two audiences for the US pilots filmed over here, at the very least.

GSN also taped the first season of their version of Lingo and That’s The Question in The Netherlands and France, respectively, before going on to create their own sets for future seasons.

Given that it’s only 8 episodes, and going to feature Mark as the Chaser, I have to believe GSN is planning on filming in London.

Only the one chaser then? For 8 episodes that’s understandable.

Kind of a shame really it’s ended up on GSN – it deserves so much better and kind of hope this might test the water nicely enough to lead to a juicier syndication deal.
