I wish *next* week was a long weekend

Easter!!!

Unfortunately not much to talk about. But NEXT weekend is impossibly exciting:

I gather Catchphrase was on Ant and Dec this evening so good cross-promotion. Like the theme tune, don’t like the graphics, think people will otherwise find it basically pleasing albeit with some unnecessariness.

In the meantime WHO WILL WIN THE BATTLE BETWEEN ANT AND DEC AND THE VOICE? One is lazy but also quite funny, the other I have very little interest in. A and D had momentum going into it. I’m usually brilliant, I’m allowed a blind spot. The first person to mention share gets permabarred.

Where will Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble end up in the charts tomorrow?

More questions than answers, there. There’s no BSOP this weekend.

That’s it, really.

Stuff the “s” word. Digital Spy and twitter are now talking about “peak rating”.

Ant & Dec did beat The Voice on numbers but people are saying The Voice had a higher peak rating.

If we’re to believe the overnight numbers appearing on microblogs, Saturday Night Takeaway Your Money has an average of 7.19m (including +1 and I assume HD); BBC The Voice (etc) 6.24m (same HD assumption). By comparison, Dr Who is credited with 6.2m.

The ratings I use for the Week exclude viewers on ITV+1 and on HD channels, but include people who see the programme on catch up during the next seven days. It’ll be interesting to see if Dr Who on BBC1-SD gains more from catchup than it loses from HD and overtakes BBC The Voice.

Tuning in to Radio 1 at 6.40 to find if PJ and Duncan AKA can make number one? We’ll be listening to Jameela Jamil, who was eight when Let’s get ready to rhumble was first released.

The last half-series of Doctor Who saw timeshifts in the region of 2m, iirc.

To point out, the gap between the two was much closer than Weaver has said. 500k separating the two.

Without +1, SNT averaged 6.7m. The Voice scored 6.2m

The breakdown points out that SNT was relatively flat throughout, with The Voice rising more than 2 million over the 95mins. Audience between Dr Who and The Voice dropped 2 million (6million to 4million).

Interesting to see what happens next week.

As the overnights include anyone who watched recording before 2am it is foolish not to count +1 viewers.

I’m not getting into an argument about +1 figures. To make my point though (seeing as you have made yours), it’s only fair to compare what services both channels have. BBC have SD + HD; ITV have SD, +1 and HD. Think of it as a scientific experiment. There has to be an equilibrium.

I don’t think it’s that stupid. How many people watched a show on the night? If the BBC don’t have a plus one that’s their look-out.

But of course since BBC1 doesn’t have a +1 service; where a viewer has a direct clash between BBC1 and ITV, or C4 or 5 for that matter, and doesn’t want to record or catch up, they will always have to watch the commercial station on +1 and the BBC on the main channel.

In this sense there is a distinct lack of equilibrium not to include the +1 services.
