New feature!

By | February 14, 2010

Yeah, not just an old one tarted up, proper new content.

It’s Valentine’s Day today, a day of love and rip-off restaurant prices. And what could possibly represent love between two people better than getting married?

Well, a dream wedding is the prize on offer on Traumhochzeit, hosted by winner of Most Tremendous International Female for 18 years running at the Bothers, Linda de Mol. This is a show that ran and ran in Germany and The Netherlands, although wasn’t quite so successful over here when fronted by Shane Ritchie.

Interesting typo on last night’s Solitary, I’m surprised they didn’t censor that. Or would it even be censored? Suffice it to say that in the typing test, they show someone accidentally typing some naughty slang, which just makes the statement they’re trying to type even funnier.

Far be it from me to cast aspersions, but isn’t “Beat The Monkey” basically Tim Vine’s “Beat The Chimp” i.e. the US version of Fluke? Or is the fact that the monkey only selects the questions sufficient to change the format?

You know how sometimes you hear a game show concept and you immediately know it’s just a headline grabber that’s never actually going to make it to the screen…?

…and the Monkey show isn’t being produced by Monkey Kingdom? I feel there’s a missed opportunity here.

But yes, you’re right J, Beat The Monkey sounds exactly like Beat The Chimp – so similar in fact I would assume they’d optioned it if it wasn’t for the fact that an ‘ideas only’ venture optioning other people’s ideas is the definition of pointless.

Anybody seen The Amazing Race yet?

It seams like the rules in relation to penilties have changed, as i understood it they would only get a penilty for not completing a task or doing something that unfairly advantaged/disadvantaged a team. That was not the case for 1 team who lost 15 minutes for losing part of the task equipment (this was not a Road Block or Detour) and losing that item did not stop themfrom completing the task.

I also did not think the editing was very good this week, one team jumped from the back of the pack to near the front with little footage to back up that leap in places.

Had to laugh at the team who got the house very wrong though lol.

Millionaire changing to US style has accidentally caused a bit of an international game show fan meltdown. I’ve been linked to a Russian site and a few others. People are wondering how soon theirs will change since the Grandfather of Millionaire has changed over. They’re wondering about good time limits, how it’ll affect/hurt the show, etc. Basically the same stuff the US freaked out about. Though they seem to like the US graphics and music.

Just thought it was interesting that your version changing has caused people over the globe to wonder if theirs is soon.

Not going to read the other comments (someone is taping AR for me while I’m travelling, and frankly going to do my own AR) but just got an email from a friend who went and saw Millionaire last week.

She felt that the excitement was sucked out due to the clock being in place… and there were quite a few stopdowns due to FFF being chucked out the window.

There’s another detail… but it’s a tiny spoiler, so I’ll leave it. Bizarrely, they air classic uk millionaire over here and I watched Piers Morgan and somebody, followed by Vanessa Feltz and new hubby. Entertaining!
