By | February 11, 2010

This is filming at Covent Garden this evening, I’m not going to be there but I know at least one Bother’s Bar Punter is, so for you I give you your own post to tell the world your experiences. Don’t hold back, now.

I’ve just put two and two together and come up with… something, this isn’t the Noel Edmonds Price Is Right-esque thing, is it?

I thought it was great! The format was as follows:

Two teams (each of two players) took turns choosing from a number of different categories (e.g. “Go Home”, “Take a seat”, “Hot Stuff”, ..). Each category corresponded to a pair of items, which they were then presented with, accompanied by a brief description from Noel. The team had to Bank whichever item they thought was more valuable, and if they were correct, the difference in value was added to their bank account. Otherwise, the difference was deducted. One example was a square foot of turf from the original Wembley stadium V.S. a deed entitling the owner to an acre of land on the moon. It turned out that the turf was way more valuable.

As the rounds progressed, the difference in price rose from tens of pounds to thousands, and it soon became clear that the earlier rounds were utterly pointless. The rounds culminated in a “quick fire” round which completely swamped the results from all previous rounds. The victors (the team with the most money in their bank account) then went on to play for real money. This part of the show worked in much the same way, and after a ridiculous amount of time conferring, the girls managed to win the top prize, which was something like £5800.

Noel was funny and cracked PLENTY of Deal or no Deal jokes.

All in all, an evening well spent!

            Very interesting, thanks very much!

Again, like Priceless, I wonder how much mileage there is in different unusual things, although I’m not very imaginative so it’s probably more than I think.

Seems like an entertaining format ruined by a strange variant on the Keynotes Scoring System.

Good to see Noel on a format where his zany side is let loose, though. Both DoND and Are You Smarter are big-money risk-reward shows, with serious decisions to make, and I think Noel is fundamentally at his best as a light entertainer.

Yes that was right and just to remind you i and my sister was the other two contestants who we both if you remember was doing really good, until the last quick fire and that one last question, either way we had a great day and hope that w entertained you well

It looks like Millionaire is ringing in the changes for the new series. Twelve shows are being recorded this week and next and will feature the following changes.

-Fastest Finger First is gone, contestants now follow one after the other. Like the US daytime and Aussie Multi-Millionaire variants.

-The clock is being brought in, no word on what the time limits are.

–Switch the Question is being brought back and will be used as a fourth lifeline for anybody who reaches £50,000.

Interestingly, I’m sure there are still some carry over episodes from last year that have yet to be aired. ITV have given the show a 17 week run for the spring and summer.

Does this also mean goodbye Verdana? Surely it makes sense to bring in the lovely US graphics package..
