I’m sure there’s at least regular one reader who hasn’t been on yet

Well here’s your chance:

Would you like to take part in the next series of Only Connect? We’re looking for teams of three players who share a common passion, ability or profession, to pool their combined wits to solve fiendish conundrums and vexing puzzles. If you fancy the challenge then contact us at onlyconnect@parasolmedia.co.uk!

MEANWHILE, here’s an interesting post on DS suggesting tea times are about to get very messy in January. Don’t know if that’s exactly how it will pan out, but it looks like Deal or No Deal vs Tipping Point vs Perfection and Flog It leading up to the Pointless vs The Chase (which has been getting about 4m recently) finale. It’s all very exciting. And somewhere there’s The Common Denominator to consider as well.

I’ve not been on OC for two reasons:

    1) I’d be rubbish at it
    2) I don’t have 2 like-minded friends who’d want a go šŸ˜€

I’d be rubbish at it, but I’d have a go. Luckily, not living in the country makes a good excuse. šŸ˜€

Or a team of ‘people called Alex’. We just need one more, other than that, it’s a foolproof plan.

Surely her off Brainteaser has a couple of afternoons free?

I could just imagine Victoria’s reaction. “Surely you can’t be the best Canada has to offer.” “Nope, just the only applicant.”

…I might be willing to join with Lewis Murphy as part of a team of game show fans good at getting questions wrong in quizzes…

I suspect we wouldn’t get through the auditions, however.

Why not let us be the judge of that? (We need a good laugh in any case.)

    rumour time from Italy:
Affari Tuoi WILL take a break in Spring. Pupo will take over with a game based on television history, with two pairs playing (the “black & white” and the “colours”).
the game itself plays a bit like Jeopardy!

Does anyone know if these will be new episodes of Pointless or repeats? I believe series 7 aired its last episode tonight.

2 repeats to plug the Thu and Fri gap before a 2 week run of new Daytime Pointless Celebrities from next Monday I believe.

And any ideas about after Christmas? 2 weeks of Celebrities should be good though!

Even with them leaving, with Armenia coming back there’s still 40 countries left (at the moment 39: Bosnia-Herzegovina has still yet to decide). Poland were out last year to focus on Euro 2012 and the Olympics, so them missing out isn’t really a significant loss.

40’s not a bad number at all. It’s around the number they were on in the late 2000s so it’s nothing to be worried about.

Also Anouk’s the entrant for the Netherlands. She was in Guitar Hero once.

Anouk is a huge star in The Netherlands; she is actually one of the few artists rejecting a mentor/judge role in ‘The Voice’.

It’s good to see the Dutch properly going for it this year. Last year was a very near miss, so now they have the confidence that they can make the final, they’re bringing out the big guns. I will be VERY surprised if she doesn’t make it out the semi.

And Turkey has now pulled out, citing the rule changes of the Big 5 and the 50:50 jury/televote as the reason.

The latter is also being called “unfair” by the Greeks, although to be honest it’s clearly that Greece are throwing their toys out the pram as ever since 50:50 votes came in they’ve no longer become dead cert for top 5.
