The Superstars revival is being hosted by Gabby Logan, and it looks like it’s been bought forward to Christmas in a very sensible move I think.
Some really good names on the participant list as well – Mo Farah, the Brownlees, Nicola Adams, Lizzie Armitstead etc, and Rebecca Adlington will be mentoring the swimming event.
Events: 100m, 800m, javelin (that’s a new one, I think), 50m swim, kayak, archery, cycling hill climb, The Infamous Gym Tests. Always felt Superstars should have a second hard skill based event (I quite enjoyed the target golf) but it’s not a bad, if trad, line up.
Still think it’s a shame they don’t do a week’s worth for broadcast between Boxing Day and New Year in the traditional World’s Strongest Man slot, but looking forward to this 90 minute special nonetheless.
Given that the recording date was soon – then I always assumed it was going to be on over Christmas/New Year. P
laying fantasy BBC One scheduler here, I’d stick a small note or two on it finding a home in the slot vacated by Strictly on Sat 29th.
Changing the subject, I was busy grazing around the tv graphics companies websites last night, and noticed that Creative Saints are no longer in business. For a time, pretty much every new passing Endemol UK title sequence was rendered/produced by them. Hopefully they closed by choice to do other things rather than no work and a every drying up bank balance.
All of which is a rather roundabout way of asking (because they did the opening titles for the two series) what ever did happen to the The Bank Job Daily that was muted for a Novemeber daytime airing?
I can only presume that 1001 Things and/or Common Denominator got hastily commissioned to avoid reviving an unsuccessful format?
(Probably the latter, what with it being Endemol and clearly derivative of a hit show from elsewhere…)
The ConDom is not an Endemol format of course, it’s from popular Israeli outfit Armoza of Still Standing and The Bubble fame. It’s existed as a thing for a fair while.
Just requested my ticket for this – thanks Brig – as I’m actually a student at the University of Bath (where it’s being filmed) so it’s very convenient for me to get there.
So, with the proviso that I get my ticket, I might be able to knock together a recording report for you if you like! I’ve gone for the Saturday at 11:15 (as it was the only slot left!)
Ooh yes please! Please keep the results to yourself though.
Will do!
What’s the usual deal with these audience ticket sites as I haven’t heard either way since my request for a ticket a week ago and it’s in two days!
They say “If you don’t hear from us either way by 10 days prior to your requested date then unfortunately you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.” but I was already within the 10 days window when I applied so I don’t really know what to make of it.
Don’t get your hopes up would be my unfortunate advice. Sorry about that.
Given it’s Applause Store who are organising the tickets for Superstars, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. They are one of the worst audience companies.
I would definitely rank them bottom. But whilst they fill seats for the big shows it probably doesn’t matter.
Thanks guys – Seems I got unlucky on this occasion as I still haven’t heard anything so seemingly won’t be able to give you a report after all!
Sorry to hear that.
We would not hesitate to recommend SRO Audiences or Lost in TV to any TV people reading, both of whom I’ve got pretty much nothing but good experiences with.
OK – Thanks for the tips!
Although I didn’t end up at Superstars today I can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that the weather has been rain of varying degrees (primarily drizzly) all day – Malaga this isn’t! (Although what did they expect filming it in November!)
Looks like a fair amount was filmed indoors, Greg Scott’s been warming up and tweeting pictures throughout the day.
Ah – OK – I know the 100m and 800m were meant to be today though as regards outdoor events.
Forecast looks better for tomorrow (in the morning at least).
