Love Will Set You Free, this year’s UK entry into Eurovision.
If it was in foreign, I’d probably accuse it of being boring. However I think it’s quite poignant and, well, nice, although I think Humperdinck belting out “freeee!” is a bit jarring.
Top 15.
Looking forward to Blue’s comeback!
million euro win on Affari Tuoi! the real news is that maybe this time it’s not a scam
He was lucky with Pacco Matto. Picking the scroll to double the top prize rather than halve it. When did this actually happen?
It always interests me when they do give away the top prize they always got to have it split over two episodes.
UK drawn first in the running order, by the sounds of things.
Bottom six now more likely than not, I suspect. Ballads drawn first are basically doomed.
Also, that Affari Tuoi clip. That’s a quite astonishing demonstration of padding. Even the US version moves quicker than that.
but wasn’t Brotherhood of Man’s Save Your Kisses For Me performed first in their final?
First is actually a good draw, if and only if the song is up to it. People will tend to remember the first thing in a list, and then remember things towards the end of the list. If something’s going to go missing in the brain, it’ll be second and third and fourth.
So, *if* the UK song (which I’ve not heard) is some cop, *and* the BBC chooses a decent bit for the recaps, then they might actually do halfway credibly. I’m not holding my breath, I’ll turn purple long before finals day.
Hmmm..
Let’s all go smashing in at the bookies on the Russian Wrinklies then… Enge stands no chance from first spot – not even with being last on the reverse telephone number reprise VT.
We may get 12 off Spain and Portugal with the pilnky guitar favoured by those countries in the background..
Amused in the official press release that he says “you need to listen to it more than once – it’s a slow burner that gets better the more you listen to it”…
..which is precisely what sort of song you don’t want to have in Eurovision.
It’s only the die-hard anroaks who listen to every entry in the weeks leading upto it on repeat mode. Does any other competiting broadcaster play all the entries from every country beforehand? Nope, and as the BBC have the ‘bankrolling-Millions-to-the-EBU-so-not-exactly-a-free pass’ into the final – we don’t even get the luxury (if you call it that) of a full performance on one of the semi-finals.
Probably, all back to Moscow in 2013 then (although as the winter Olympics are being held in Sochi in 2014, I wonder if they may use Eurovision for one of the indoor stadiums as a test event)
Well done Deal or No Deal LIVE for winning best daytime show at the RTS awards this evening. Only the live ones, mind.
Commiserations to Million Pound Drop for losing to a slightly substandard Derren Brown: The Experiments.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please be upstanding for the Accumulate! Series 4 final!!

Gary Male has suggested I do “Schlag den Peake” as my next project. I’d be well up for that.
We’ve been wanting to do Schlag den Bodycombe for ages.
Hey Dan,
