Let’s play a lovely game of “Questions That Are Probably A Bit Too Esoteric For Only Connect!”

By | January 27, 2010

Inspired by comments on other posts, I thought I’d set my own question. I will update this throughout the day if nobody gets it.

So, what comes fourth in this sequence and for no bonus or indeed credit, why?

  • Stephanie Beecham
  • Kate O’ Mara
  • Rula Lenska
  • Susan George is the answer because “DJB had already did this in a TV Cream mailout!” Well done Jenny Turner! Ahem.

Join us next time for another brilliant game of “Questions That Are Probably A Little Bit Too Esoteric for Only Connect!” Bye!

Strangely, I don’t actually remember this myself. Must stop sucking those aluminium pans.

Susan George… And I see Jennifer Turner beat me to the punch for ‘actresses who played Miss Peacock on Cluedo’

Well I can’t think of a question. Christ it’s harder than it looks isn’t it? They should give David a payrise or something (you can link to this if you want, David).

Still, we’re only DAYS AWAY before launching a new Happy Hour Competition, Secondhand 3-2-1, so that’s quite exciting.

And fifth in the list would have been Joanna Lumley

    I LOVE CLUEDO!!!

I think in fairness I did the same question with Colonel Mustard for very very old Bother’s Bar competition The 12 Games of Christmas.

Basically Cluedo is a goldmine for this sort of thing!

Hmm… Well, if we’re doing random esoteric OC style questions on here, how about this one:

What comes fourth in the following sequence:

    Mark

Mark again. It’s a question about “Who was The Chaser on successive days of The Chase in some specified week?” and thus the sequence runs Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark.

Thank goodness that getting questions wildly wrong here is much less embarrassing than doing so on screen would be.

We use that one in rehearsals:

          1st: Peter Gabriel
          2nd: Peter Gabriel
          3rd: Peter Gabriel

Very few people get it right!

Actually, I’ll answer that one myself. It clearly isn’t.

OK, here’s a genuinely obscure connection question:

    Serre Chevalier
    Tangalooma
    Colorado Springs
    Singapore

Lions. Sculpture, nature reserve, one found wild there, merlion sculpture.

I would have guessed lions from that list, though had to search for supporting evidence.

Sorry, no. It’s a lot tighter than that. As a clue, I think there’s only six places that could be in this list of which these are four of them.

If it’s what I’m thinking of, the complete set would include Cotulla. (He said, trying not to give the game away any more than Victoria’s opening monologue this week did.)

Got it now! Extremely cute and not a little obtuse. (For a spoiler, try searching for a list that contains more than one of them.)

I suppose Canas would be the sixth, though I always used the version of what it refers to with an “o” and an “e” in it.

So just to dot the i’s, the answer was that they are airports whose IATA codes are also trig functions (SEC, COS, TAN and SIN).

Hmm, have I made this too hard? That’s the million dollar question. I’m sure you’ll work it out.

    here’s an obscure connection…

    a handgun
    an adhesive bandage
    a frying pan
    a can of cranberry-flavored soda

        Sorry didn’t see this.
They’re all companies, but that’s only part of the connection..
