Fantasy X Factor

By | November 8, 2011

OK, you’ve probably read the news that Frankie has been removed from The X Factor, and you’re probably wondering how this might affect FXF this week. Well, producers are releasing a statement tomorrow regarding what’s happening this weekend so I will make a firm decision then.

What is certain is that you won’t be able to vote for Frankie to be eliminated this week. If you have done it already, please choose again. Secondly there is no make-up if you have Frankie in your team, that’s the luck of the game and you are advised to change him out. Anyone who had Frankie down as a winner will be mailed in due course. You are welcome to wait until the producers have come to their decision before making yours.

Since Paddy Power are refunding all outright bets for Frankie. Then I reckon you should give us a free swap.

Paddy Power are generally very generous with refunding bets. Doesn’t mean Brig should be so generous (says the person without Frankie in his team)

I perceive that Paddy Power habitually offer ridiculous 120% books, quoting both sides of a legitimate coin-flip at 5/6. That’s how they can afford to be so generous with their refunds and promotions.

Can’t quite see why anyone uses traditional fixed odds bookmakers any more in this day and age of betting exchanges (plural) except when you want to put (e.g.) a crazy accumulator on but that strikes me as a seriously -EV way to gamble, accepting the book’s rake to the power of several. On the other hand I do know a guy at work who has come out ahead several seasons in a row betting on football accumulators at traditional bookies so it is possible, though I can’t help feeling that he’d do even better backing the singles on the exchanges. Damn utility functions!

But, Paddy Power only gives back selected loosing bets, if he can get good publicity out it. For every £1 he hands back – he’ll make that back with some other silly novelty bet in the next week or so.

To pick up on what Chris said above me – It is possible to get out with more notes in your pocket than you went in with in a high street bookies – but it’s rare – and they are as you say utter tightwads (no surprise really when on some days double the money goes into the casino gaming machines than under the bulletproof glass)

Even the on-line bookies (who should know better) can’t beat the ‘machines’. Last Saturday at Doncaster I stuck a canadian bet with the fair betting site (£2.60 for 5 horses) which would have given me £209.90 back.
The same bet with the same meeting and selections with Uncle SkyBet would have yelded just £176.10 – at which point I hit the back button on my mouse with uncontained disgust.

Paddy are famous for throwing in sporadic, unpredictable, and gimmicky refunds while having hugely stingy odds most of the time.

Brig – I have Frankie in my team. It’s not fair on all of us in this boat, that Frankie has been expelled / chosen to leave / has otherwise left the comp…however, I believe your way is the right way. No freebies. Hardcore Fantasy X!

Seriously…guys, we take the rough with the smooth, right? We chose Frankie…he has left…that’s the way the Cocozza cookie crumbles….

(PS – Brig – can I have a million bonus points for being the first to predict a Sun-type headline tomorrow…”Frankie Coke-over”…or similar??!)

    (PPS……fair enough…thought not!)

If you have do fantasy football and one if your team gets fired, you wouldn’t expect to transfer him out your team without using one if your alloted changes.

They still haven’t revealed what’s happening on Saturday yet, but when they do I will let people know how it affects them.

Looks like one of the 4 acts eliminated in week 1 will be voted back in. I had james in my team week 1, if he is voted back in will i be able to put him back in without a points reduction?

Didn’t see this twist coming. Certainly makes the competition more interesting depending on who comes back in. I presume the unindentified wildcard will be an option for Fantasy purposes as they won’t be revealed before the start of Saturday’s show.

I’m going to come up with a rule tomorrow, as I’m drunk. Likely there will be a wildcard option for Saturday, yes.

But there will be no free transfer over it, that is the luck of the game. Logically I would have to dock you all the points your replacement act has bought in.
