Well with all the rioting going on in London, what better clip to put up (look, it’s a really quiet week) than Fathers for Justice invading the National Lottery Jet Set with Eamonn Holmes in 2006? Alan Dedicoat filling like a pro, here:
In other news, a repeat of the Series 3 vs Series 4 Champion of Champions Only Connect is on BBC4 at 8:30pm, Shooting Stars is on at 10pm on BBC2
The Guardian have a post with ten clips from Shooting Stars, though there are links to others that are probably even better in the comments. Lots of good stuff, though it’s surprisingly modern – and yet my memory plays tricks on me and suggests that really early Shooting Stars could make my student self crack up well over a dozen times a show.
Haven’t looked at them all, though if any of them having George Dawes singing a song and then concluding it by reminding us that Bird’s Eye Potato Waffles are waffly versatile then do please shout up. (Did he do the Moulinex ad at some point as well?)
Brig
Are they rioting on your doorstep yet? I hear Stratfords
Mall has been closed after the baddies did in JB Sports. Great advert. For the Olympics, eh? The whole capitals going to pieces….
Help!
Personally I’m hiding behind the sofa til it’s all over…
No, Cambridge is fine, although I’m a bit jumpier at shouting outside my house this evening.
If you’re a reader (or even if you’re not), stay safe.
I know the above clip could have got extremely nasty indeed, and I’m not criticising Eamonn for getting the hell out of there but I still facepalm at the fact that Eamonn appears to think that hiding behind a woman 2 feet shorter than him will somehow work.
And not helped with the other added wildcard that night, that they HAD to finish smack on 19:59:00 as it was Eurovision night, and any delay would have crashed into the EBU triple arrow ident halfway through, and a nasty telephone call from Geneva.
No wonder afterwards the BBC, Camelot and Endemol ditched the practice of towing the lottery draw drums to either TVC, London Studios or Fountain Television, to a pretty much unpentrable studio out in the rolling Buckingshire countryside.
Did I miss something? I’m watching US Millionaire right now and there’s a commercial for a Jeremy Kyle US talk show. Anyone know anything about this?
Only that it’s been on the cards for a while now.
They were talking about Jezza K US when I went over to 3sixtymedia the other week. He’s gone over for about 6 months and it should be shown in the UK on ITV2.
yeah- starts 9/19 over here…

For the first time in 3-4 years, US Millionaire isn’t getting a ton of new rules. We’re just getting one tweak. Occasional days are going to be “Double Your Money” days. On those special days (producer’s discretion, etc) one of the questions will randomly be selected. If you answer it right when it comes up, the dollar value behind it is doubled. So one question could now be worth up to $50,000.
This does mean, if you were to play a perfect game and be lucky enough to get the $25,000 doubled; your bank entering Classic Millionaire could be $93,600. Meaning you’d have to risk $68,600 to win $6,400 more. Only one person went 10 for 10 last season, though, so I doubt there’s much of a risk of that.
Brig, are you going to the recording of ‘Worth a Fortune’. Would be great to find out if it’s better or worse than ‘It’s Worth What’.
Regrettably not, although I’ll stick up a post for anyone who does go.
If the idea of travelling through London appeals to you tomorrow, there’s probably still time to get a ticket:

Some specific rules for Take The Money and Run. Very interesting. Wish they’d expound on the rules during the show a bit more. I didn’t know half this stuff and it puts other things more in perspective, like the dude cracking under the pressure last week.

Good find. It’s a shame that such a basic thing is a real stumbling block for the show. Hopefully they can find a quick and simple way of covering the rules for the general viewer.
Even if they just give notice of the quirky ones when they become relevant in commentary or an on-screen infobox…
