How can you tell when something is, in fact, a gameshow?

By | May 26, 2011

The answer is, of course, when the host right at the beginning says “this is not a gameshow.” Anyway, here’s some Silent Library (based, of course, on a segment of popular Japanese show Dauntaun no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!) It’s a celebrity edition with punk (presumably) band All Time Low playing. The idea, of course, is that one or more people are picked at random to take a punishment, they and their friends laughing at them must try to remain as quiet as possible to win the money.

It’s mildly entertaining, I could see it being a minor hit on Channel 5 if done the right way.

They had no-lifers Jersey Shore on one series. Did predictably terrible.

      Or at least it was…
      It’s been taken down now…

(Which is especially annoying for me as I’d watched the whole of the main game and switched it off intending to watch the final later as I had other things to be doing and now I don’t know if they won or not!)

Interesting. Did you notice if the user was a Joe Schmo or someone related to the production? I wonder if it was a contestant who was given a DVD screener in advance?

I do hope they give it another chance in a less pressurised slot. I watched both episodes again for review purposes and they got a lot more right than wrong.

The user was ‘demandfive’ so it wasn’t any wrongdoing by Joe Public who’d uploaded something they shouldn’t have done as far as I can tell. (The Series Playlist bar at the bottom in my previous link confirms that).

Whilst it did exist on the main Impossible? page (http://www.youtube.com/show/impossible?s=1) it claimed the air date was 26/05/11 which, of course, it wasn’t so maybe theres some legal thing about making sure you don’t upload something ‘On Demand’ which hasn’t actually made it to air yet!

I agree, it wasn’t perfect but it was very different and deserves to given more room to breathe as you say.

ALMOST a World Exclusive, I noticed they were filming with American AND Brit kids just yesterday. Exciting though.

I did stumble across I think some Spanish episodes of this via Youtube a few months back and found it worryingly addictive. It’s kind of classic late night nonsense – and much rather see more like this than teleshopping and Casino games!

…Not to mention the overall format is very different (On account that it isn’t only the final task that matters), though the concept is basically the same, yeah.

The Cube’s coming to Italy, in case that wasn’t a known fact.
