Maths and Gaeilge

By | May 10, 2011

Right, semi 1 out of the way and well done indeed to whoever it was who got through.

However, the danger, the POP MISSILE coming on Thursday that is going to surprise everyone is Jedward’s Lipstick.

Alright, ignore the bits at the beginning that are likely to sound just as off and tuneless on the night, once you get past the first ten seconds, this song becomes amazing, and they’re going to really sell it. And they seem to reference trendy but unpopular bands like Hurts and The Pet Shop Boys in the video.

We can prove this using maths:

Britney + Womanizer = AMAZING

Jedward + A song that’s a bit like Womanizer – the first ten seconds = AMAZING

I do not expect this to be the popular opinion around the UK but it remains the correct one as the maths proves beyond doubt. They’ve got a good song, they’re nice guys, Bother’s Bar OFFICIALLY BACKS JEDWARD for DUSSELDORF 2011. To finish in the Top 15.

    Oh I am soooo annnoyed…..

I can’t stand Jedward, but this song is so amazing. It’s twisting with my deep set feelings of hatred.

Can I say I like it if I pretend it’s not Jedward?

Yes I think you can, I’d find it difficult to beleive it was written with Jedward in mind. If Rachel Stevens wanted to relaunch her singing career…

From someone who’s a friend of a friend of the writer (honest), I can say that the song was originally written with a female singer in mind. And some of the lyrics that should be different aren’t.

Incidentally (if you’re not following on Twitter), I’ve decided that as if Rachel Stevens made a comeback she has to cover Lipstick and Kate Ryan’s Je t’adore and because Come and Get It is one of the greatest pop albums of the last decade, this Friday is OFFICIALLY International Rachel Stevens Day on Bother’s Bar and Bother’s Bar’s Twitter. Look out for videos, and remember to use #internationalrachelstevensday on Twitter.

Actually she wouldn’t do much wrong in covering Kate Ryan’s entire discography. That is unless you feel a bit odd about the idea of a cover of a cover of a classic French 80s song.

Clearly I must be doing my math wrong. That equation just doesn’t add up to me.
