Have you ever got up in the morning and thought to yourself “hmm, what I really want right now is the ability to watch every single title seuqnece of Treasure Hunt with Kenneth Kendall in sequential chronological order”? Did you think that very thing this morning? Well, I like to make dreams come true, so here is a video somebody else put up of precisely that very thing:
Oh, very nifty! Fun, if you’re a geek like me, to see Jacques Antoine deprioritised and Wincey Willis prioritised over time.
Incidentally, my wife got me a Digital Video Converter for Christmas, which claims to be able to take input from a VCR and “put it” on a SD card. Pity that I’ve got rid of most of my old VHS tapes, but never mind.
Time to wheel out my favorite Annabelle Croft on Treasure Hunt giggle schoolboy-esque moment.
Just after she’d been dropped into the sea to get the next clue of a boat and swam back to the shore, they went to a break. Comes back from it, and the still wet and by now slightly chilly skyrunner says “Hello Kenneth, I’ve got two great views in front of me” – refering to two cliffs in which the beach was situated between….. of course.
Back to the YouTubeage clip. Love how back in the early 80s formats overseas were credited with the functional and basic ‘based on an idea by..’
Just couldn’t get away with that today, you would have all sorts of scrolling text based overload like – ‘based on (show name) created by (creators name) and distributed worldwide by (Endemol).
However, some of those TH opening title closing ‘two helicopter in same shot’ sequences beat simliar shots that Le Cart Aux Tresors were doing on a regular basis by about 20 years.
Ce magnifique.
Actually, just thought I’d come back to this point – in France, gameshows still do mention producers and format creators in lots of their opening titles.
La Carte aux Tresors has been axed, if people didn’t know already. Although it sounds like a new show called Milennium Mission will be taking its action adventure reigns, named just ten years too late.
Has it? Thanks for the info – if only to confirm that I spelt Le Carte… 99% correctly, and not typed a load of abuse in French without knowing it…
I feel sorry for TV5 who will now have to find another 2+ hour slot to fill. No doubt they’ll put out a repeat of that tedious cabaret show that features a constant stream of unicycling jugglers and bad magicians. It was on for over 4 hours on New Years Eve – 4 hours!
Makes some of the shows Stefan Raab takes part in, seem like a short 5 min schedule filler by comparison.
Yep, since Sylvain Augier left the viewership has dropped considerably, and not even a relaunch could help it.
The final series was very different show to the CAT we all know.
TV5 show Pekin Express a lot these days, which is basically The Amazing Race but with more hiking.
It’s been aaaages since Fort Boyard was on TV5…
Or at least ages since I noticed it was on.
