They (I) said it wouldn’t happen…

By | February 7, 2011

but it looks like Fort Boyard is coming back for its 22nd season after all in it’s native France. As one of France’s biggest exports, is it simply too big to fail?

Most interestingly given it completely tanked in the ratings last year literally anything could happen. Will it stick to two teams? Civilians? Celebrities? Old school? New school? It’s going to be an intriguing Summer.

In the meantime, Patrice Laffont’s first episode of GSN original dating show Baggage begins – when else? February 14th on a channel I’ve never heard of NRJ.

Edit: I’ve just heard it’s going back to the old-school one team style. So there we are.

    I knew it wouldn’t go.
2010 hold some good Foreign versions tho. Espeically Sweden, Norway and Finland were notable the best this year. If the french do look to a 2 team format they should look there.
Otherwise i would like to see normal people take on the fort as a proper team

NRJ is a radio channel AFAIK in the same vein as MTV. So they probably have their own TV station.

Also about FB: turns out they’ve got what could be a final turn of the screw. I hope they pull another 2003.

Oh, and the rough translation from http://www.fort-boyard.fr/news/262-fort-boyard-confirme-pour-une-saison-2011.php is as follows:

“With low audiences last summer, the renewal of the show for a 22nd season wasn’t really confirmed, but we can now say that our reliable source tells that indeed that Fort Boyard will be back on France 2 this summer! For the moment we don’t know anything else, that the specific rules/format are still in development, but there is no doubt that FB 2011 will bring new things, as with every year.

As well, it’s impossible to say at this point if it will be members of the public as it was this past summer, or if it will be celebs like in past years. That being said, if the applications for the members of the public were saved from last year, applications should be open from anywhere from now to a month from now. If you are interested in more news, please keep yourself posted by checking the website frequently or signing up for the newsletter on the side of the page.

Just a reminder, the show is taped generally at the start of June for an airdate starting end of June/start of July.”

Well, well, we finally find out what happens if a player gets £0 in the Cashbuilder round on The Chase. Anne offered -£1,000 to drop down and £10,000 for 10 questions asked to move up. And yes, I am watching on ITV1 +1.

Oh, I was thinking it was being played with a 10-step board instead. Hmm, no idea WHY I thought that.

Record viewing figures for Million Pound Drop last Friday, with a peak of almost 4 MILLION 😀

Also, Brig mentioned a while back about a new gameshow on ITV1 about the person asking the questions trying to prevent the contestants from winning. This show is called Control and is presented by Christine Bleakley. The pilot records two weeks from this Wednesday.

Terriffic, thanks Joe and Tom. I’ve already got that day off to recover from a recording the night before, so will try and get down there.

Edit: Oh no, it looks like that’s been moved back a week. Still, though.
