The Games are BACK! Sort of.

By | September 16, 2010

Well, The EXTREME Games. Well, Famous and Fearless at any rate. Broadcast suggest 12 celebrities will be doing things like monster truck racing, skydiving and the like for two hours a night live across a week on Channel 4 with the best celebrities winning money for local community projects in their home town.

The Games was, of course, smashing. But this is a Princess Production rather than Endemol, so who knows what’ll happen.

Channel 4 are also doing a show called Four Rooms, which is being billed as Antiques Roadshow meets Deal or No Deal. People sell items and they get offers one by one by people in some rooms, once you reject an offer there’s no going back. Fascinating.

Whilst there’s nothing wrong with the show, I have reservations putting it on in an 8pm Friday slot.

    So Survivor 21 then.

Tribes are split 30-younger and 40-older.

Hidden immunity idol clues are now picture based

There’s a Medallion of Power in the game, it gives the tribe who own it the ability to trade it for advantages in challenges. If it’s used it goes to the other tribe.

Given that its in Nicaragua, the immunity idol is in the shape of a Spanish Conquistador which is kind of a neat nod to history. The tribe flags are also more like military banners now.

Tribal Council is set in a ruined church, no roof again since the producers didn’t get the tribal rain last season.

That’s about it for style and game changes. Everything else is pretty much business as usual.

And the ratings didn’t suffer that much with the new night- They got 12 million viewers, which is an increase over last season. The BB finale averaged 7.85 million viewers, good but down about 100K from last seasons finale- and that was mainly because the finale of America’s Got Talent averaged 15.75 million viewers, with almost 19 million in the last half-hour.

Looking at the updated TV listings, it seems the Beeb does not want a new lottery show like Secret Fortune to get slaughtered by ITV’s The X Factor. So they will be showing In It to Win It to pair with Strictly Come Dancing.

This will be the third series of In It to Win It that has been aired since January. Yes, third!

According to broadcastnow.co.uk, the next series of the Apprentice (UK) will start on the BBC on 6 October. I am on holiday then, if anyone is interested.

Will there be a CELEBRITY edition? I think if you wrote to people telling them it was voted third best UK Gameshow of the 2009, they’ll be flocking to say yes.
