That Ultimate Big Brother line-up in full

By | August 24, 2010

Crikey, I think this is actually a bit of a great line-up. Which I wasn’t expecting:

  • Nasty Nick Bateman (Big Brother 1 – 2000): Very possibly the most important person in Big Brother history.
  • Brian Dowling (Winner, Big Brother 2 – 2001): Very possibly the funniest person in Big Brother history.
  • Nadia Almada (Winner, Big Brother 5 – 2004): Very possibly the most Portugese transexual person in Big Brother history.
  • John McCririck (Celebrity Big Brother 3 – 2005): Very possibly the most disgusting housemate in Big Brother history.
  • Makosi Musambasi (Big Brother 6 – 2005): Very possibly the most troublemaking person in Big Brother history.
  • Chantelle Houghton (Winner, Celebrity Big Brother 4 – 2006): Very possibly the most least celebrity celebrity in Big Brother history.
  • Preston (Celebrity Big Brother 4 – 2006): Very possibly the least interesting musically in Big Brother history.
  • Nikki Grahame (Big Brother 7 – 2006): Very possibly the whingiest person in Big Brother history.
  • Coolio (Celebrity Big Brother 6 – 2009): Very possibly the coolest person in Big Brother history.
  • Ulrika Jonsson (Winner, Celebrity Big Brother 6 – 2009): Very possibly the most Swedish person in Big Brother history.
  • Josie Gibson (Winner, Big Brother 11 – 2010): Very possibly the most heavily accented person in Big Brother history.

So there we are, that’s the line-up, with an eviction on Friday and two more coming in also on Friday (but not through the front door). Really looking forward to seeing how Nasty Nick and Brian Dowling cope (Brian looked a bit put out that there were so many big personalities in the house), Chantelle and Preston were married and divorced and Chantelle and Nikki have had a falling out in the media.

John McCririck has already been hit by the Tree of Temptation at the time of writing. John Mc wants out as soon as possible, I fully expect the Tree to give him a ticket to the final night.

the two not entering through the front door i think ive sussed. It must mean a return of the ‘Big Brother BEDSIT!!!’

They name checked Michelle Bass in interviews, so id put money on her return to the Bedsit. and judging from people included in http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/bigbrother/realitybites/a260906/ultimate-big-brother-you-decide.html this photo, id say brian belo with his big brother watching experience might make a good bedsit companion!

Also, why have they wasted valuable UBB places on boring folk like ulrika and coolio. id much rather see classic brother folk like alison or johnny from BB3, helen from bb2, craig bb1, jon tickle bb4, victor bb5, y’know, some oldies…

Yes, the amount of Celeb BB alumini is annoying (although I can see why they’ve gone for Chantelle, Preston and McCririck).

I’m not sure the bedsit would have much point as it would lack the talking-behind-people’s-backs element. But we’ll see.

Fingers crossed for The Slickman to turn up on Friday!

Despite being ‘lifestyle fact ent etc’, but a game show nonetheless, ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ with Mel and Sue on BBC2 is very watchable indeed and probably the best example of competitive cooker I’ve seen in a while. Anyone agree?

I did clash with UBB though.

      Yeah I’ll agree with you.

Liked last week’s opener a lot and just caught up with last night’s ep (As was watching BB/UBB).

I always liked Mel and Sue especially in the early days of Late (nee light) lunch… they go together so well.

The style of this prog is very gentile and Mary Berry is so sweet, she reminds me of my grandma… It’s very comfortable to watch.

“Ulrika Jonsson (Winner, Celebrity Big Brother 6 – 2009): Very possibly the most Swedish person in Big Brother history.”

Jonas aka Basshunter is more Swedish. He has the accent, for one.

After (almost) a day, I’ve decided. This line-up is pure Teflon™ – whatever criticism I try to make of it just brushes off. There’s a reasonable excuse for including all of these people, starting with three of the people I suggested at the start of the month – Nick Bateman, Brian Dowling, and Chantelle Houghton – so obviously no complaints about them.

Nadia and Ulrika are great choices, quite possibly bound for the final. Makosi and Nikki – are they in there to have their egos pricked? Or to get the press attention – Makosi is the most-written about BB contestant, Nikki brings the News of the World on board.

Perhaps the only criticism I would make is that there’s one celeb too many in there – Preston’s inclusion is to stir up something with Chantelle, McCririck completely baffles me, Coolio is looking interesting. (Reads the live updates.) Coolio is a hateful misogynist who is for the lossing, and McCririck is a moron. Cans of cola in the freezer? Slagging off Sam Pepper and trying to turn Josie The Winner off John James? Sheesh. He’s racing to beat Laura’s record for futility, 9/4, 6/4, 6/4.

I see Brig’s claim that Makosi is the most troublemaking person, and suggest the previous year’s rebel without a clue, Oh No It’s Kitten Pinder. And from Preston being the least interesting musically, I offer Sam and Amanda Marchant and their “novelty” cover of “Barbie Girl”, which somehow managed to be even worse than the original, which is already a grotesque crime against music.

I still think Josie has a very strong chance for the wonning. But so does Brian. And Chantelle. And, if the wind’s in the right direction, Ulrika and Nadia. And who else is coming in? It’s all too hard!

Enough opinion, here’s a fact. Since they started showing live entrances in 2002, three people have won their Big Brother series from being first person in. All three of them – Chantelle, Ulrika, and Josie – are in this competition.

Trivia question – who was the first HM ever to enter the BB house back in BB1? I know Craig was the last (original) to go in, but no idea who went in first. (I know they entered as a group, but someone would have crossed the threshold first).

As for Ultimate BB – a pretty strong line up but completely agree Coolio and Ulrika don’t deserve a place there – they are not pivotal characters in BB’s history.

I’d have Victor over Coolio – he’d similarly ruffle feathers but is much more of a legendary HM, and really virtually anyone over Ulrika – even Sophie from last year, as despite nobody watching would be good to have someone representing BB8-10. I’m suspecting Craig might be one of the two to go in Friday – was amazed he didn’t move in last night as he was the one I thought was a certainty.

There are some tasteless jokes going around the office that the mooted Channel 5 revival is going to be filmed on location in Chile.

I think you only really needed Coolio OR John. Not both. But Coolio in an American ‘star’ (he’s not really, he’s dirt cheap to book) and the producers go cooey over that.

Lack of Aisleyene is a dissapointment – in that she had one of the best story archs during her time in the house. She was abrasive, but in the end likeble. UBB would be hers for the winning.

I miss Kemal too in that housemates that were that entertaining while being undeniably intelligent and witty are few and far between.

Series 3, which was quite an important series, has no representative. Kate Lawler is now a horific parody of Kate Lawler – so I’d have lumped for Alison Hammond (assuming she’d want to do it now she’s got a proper job and all).

Other than that – no real complaints. I do get why people are against Ulrika being in there. She has one of the late, great BB stories. She’s a proper ‘star’ (in the UK sense) and her win was a real turn-around of public opinion.

Just had a thought. Shilpa Shetty!?

I can see why they put Preston in (despite not being very interesting in himself), but they were married for Christs sake. Those tears last night were serious tears and I can’t imagine how difficult that situation must be.

Agree with the lack of series 3, Alison would have been awesome.

Please don’t slag off Kate Lawler, she’s now doing what she’s always wanted to do, and she does a damned fine job of it. Up against Scott Mills, Eddie Mair, and Simon Mayo? The listener is spoiled for choice!

The other obvious representative from BB3 went back in some years ago. That wasn’t the greatest of moves, was it?

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING, apparently it’s Victor BB5 and Michelle Bass BB5 on Friday, and yes it’s the bedsit. Which I still don’t quite see the point of, but still.

    And Josie has walked.

Never mind the Tree o’Temptation, the bed at the far end from the door is the Bed of Early Exits. Caoimhe and Shabby swapped sides there, and both vanished. Keeley moved in, and then moved out. Josie lost her bed to Brian and Nikki, and – whoosh! – gone.
