Good old the Swedish

By | August 24, 2010

The Swedes were one of the first countries to try Fort Boyard as a two-team affair almost ten years ago (as Fortet) AND NOW IT’S BACK! With original hosts Gunde Svan and Agneta Sjödin. Digging the titles!

Tigers, there. And apparently Jimmy Carr is the new Fader Fouras. Hat tip to Craig for the link.

I should just point out that I can’t get sound at work so I’m waiting until I get home to watch it properly. But don’t let that stop you.

Just as a note. Fort Boyard Sweden Airs on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday This week.
Next week it will air On Monday Tuesday Wednesday with Wednesday being the Final. I take it there doing 2 seasons because they have recorded 12 episodes.

I’m always intrigued by the Swedish, they seem to be able to put quite interesting spins on the format (both in presentation and gameplay terms) in a way that few other countries seem to manage.

Fortunately they canned that whole single-track soundtrack when they did Fortet. Which had a really good soundtrack if you ask me.

Anyway, I’m really, really liking this from the first ep.

Yes I quite liked that. A few points:

          * I wonder why they’ve decided Fader Fouras is the male version of Aunt Sabrina here?

          * Magnus Samuelsson playing the Nail duel was all sorts of hilarious.

          * The music is a combination of very apt and completely random.

I’m also surprised nobody had tried the “just guess the combination” to the games where the padlock combination is split into two before – it’s very easy to get through 100 possibilities quickly.

I don’t think it’s really in the spirit of the game, but then I’ve never thought trying to find padlock combinations is very thrilling either so.

Also, is it safe to assume the Swedes are using their old quite good treasure room system, where the team can make as many guesses as they like forcing them to make a sacrifice after every wrong guess?

Then again it happend in France as well last year during snakes.

Good First Episode. I think the Swedish should be proud of what they have done with Fort Boyard. Maybe the french should follow. I just hate the fact that all the Foreign versions that do clocks to show how much time is left in a key game needs to be more accurate. I suppose they do it to tense the game up.

Nice to also see the Pre 2003 Code changes where the clue words can be got out of the canisters when they get the clues and not when there at the Treasure room.

The Next Episode Airs tonight at 8pm in Sweden.
The two top highest scoreing teams play in a final on Next Wednesday.

In France, M6 have canned Nouvelle Star (which has had a much longer run there than Pop Idol ever did here) and are possibly lining X Factor up to replace it, the latter having aired on their satellite digital station W9 – which has already said it won’t be doing it again itself.

And talking of Survivor here a few days back, TF1’s recommissioned Koh-Lanta, which begins a new run next month.

anyone else have an advert at the beginning with magnus samuelsson dancing to advertise yoghurt?

i can only presume he’s featured on swedish strictly post-WSM.

Have to say that i far preferred this version to the recently finished French series. It’s not too long and it’s a simple format that works. It’s not overly complicated which is where i personally think the French slip up – very easy for people to loose interest!

    Time for Ep 2! 🙂

I was watching the final of the French Fort boyard. I got bored half way through. and actualy skipped 10 mins of it.
I think this version is far more better and far more Fort boyard

I fully agree. I think how the Swedes have done it could work well for a new UK version. I much prefer how one team goes on to find clues to spell the passcode on the treasure room floor. Hated the fact that this was excluded from the French version.

Looking at the behind the scenes vids on tv4play.se it would seem that Basshunter is in one of the teams! 😀

It could indeed work for a UK Version. In a 90 min format. The one thing i possibly dislike as i said is the inaccurate clocks on key games and probley the fact that Key and clue games seem to be repeated alot. I dont belive key games need a clock because it ruins the tension of the clepsydre. Whereas i think a clue game needs a clock instead of a clepsydre.

Well these ratings certianly seem quite good for Sweden? Shame that the French series went downhill which won’t be any good for giving a reason why it should come back to the UK.

I think Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday x2 is quite “interesting” scheduling for this sort of thing, I’m going to be interested in how the final does.

1.7m will be a good figure considering the country has about 9.5m people.

Im wondering when about there gonna air the second season because they filmed 12 epsiodes this year. So i guess it be the same format.

          4. Craig

Maybe they’ll show the next 6 episodes in a few months time to break up the year? It is quite strange to have the show running every night, but maybe this will help keep momentum with the viewers to keep them tuning in?

Epsiode 3 of Swedish Fort Boyard is here http://www.tv4play.se/noje_och_humor/fangarna_pa_fortet?videoId=1.1758167

From what it says on the website next monday epsiode is a Kids Vs Parents epsiode.

Reading some comments on the swedish site it seems alot of people are happy to see its back. A few would like it back on Friday nights.

I really do like the format of the show. Its humoress which the french version seem to be misisng and it contains a good flow throuh the episode. With both hosts being on both sides despite it being a two team format. Something i think the french also missed. I think it would work for the UK.

It’s awesome that Fort Boyard is back for three weeks, and they have been doing really well with the first three episodes. Although, I did prefer the “old” treasure chamber in which one of the team members had to swim with all collected keys through the underwater tunnels too access it, and insert the keys from the inside to let the rest of the team in. That was awesome!
