Thanks to James P for pointing out a link to The Amazing Race: China Rush, apparently featuring an international line-up in a race around China. And a title that sounds like an action film. Apparently it’s in English!
In other news: object three is now on Bother’s Prize Table, it’s time for Tom to start rejecting.
Seems the host is the same one from TAR Asia.
Oh yes, so it is! I love me some Allan Wu. Must try and dig this up!
It doesn’t have the same production levels as the US version. I found it a bit difficult to follow where the teams were – sometimes a team jumped right from the back to the middle or front of the pack without showing why. But I did have the same initial reservations about TAR Asia which got better so hopefully this will be similar.
Where are you guys watching? as the website says episodes coming soon.
I have no idea… i know it airs on another channel on the 14th. Maybe it’ll become available afterwards? On a side note the Seven network in Aus has commissioned their own version of the amazing race: http://www.mediaspy.org/report/2010/08/05/the-amazing-race-australia-confirmed-by-seven/
Unrelated to everything, I’ve somehow accidentally found the 101LAGS font: http://www.dafont.com/allstar4.font
Haven’t seen this gigantic blunder reported here yet:

When will Minute to Win It get a UK version? It’s the biggest new gameshow in the world right now. America has it, Australia, Germany and other countries. It’s better than The Cube too.
Which other countries are those, then?
I’ll answer my own question! It’s coming soon to Sweden and Uruguay. The world’s biggest new format, there.
When the BBC decides to pick up the show and call it “National Lottery: Minute to Win It” with a £250,000 top prize.
Not sure if it is better than The Cube though. As The Cube includes mental challenges where Minute to Win It are all physical.
I wonder if Richard Desmond’s Channel 5 would think about it? It doesn’t strike me as being a very BBC show at all.
I know they want to have lottery shows without a solid quiz element. Which is why they are trying out Secret Fortune.
Channel Five is possible but it would be done on the cheap (due to Desmond making massive cuts to the channel) and nobody will watch it.
Well he’s pumping £300m into the channel, and it’s not like the games cost a lot to make…
The BBC just feels like the wrong place for it, and whereas in The States they won’t have the Cube comparisons, over here you’d have to suspect they very much will.
So get ready for some bizarre US Millionaire news soon. We’re switching to a 14 question chain. The $50,000 (your £75,000 level) is gone. Also the bottom 10 values randomly rotate between each other. No one has any clue why. The rules aren’t out yet, but they will be next week.
Also I’ve heard (which is backed up by a few people) that we will be getting rid of the Hot Seat and a row or two of audience seats have been removed for new set pieces and other things.
I have no freaking idea what’s going on.
It seems when Sony/2waytraffic bought the rights to the show Michael Davies is doing anything to make the show that perfect and keep it fresh. I feel he is making too many changes in a short span of time.
I wonder how many changes you can make to the format until it isn’t really Millionaire any more?
Actually I heard he may not be in total control anymore. They apparently cleared house because ABC wanted changes. Tons of new producers and EPs.
I’ll be on set on Thursday. I’m excited to see it because I’m a big fan of the show, but I am cautious because Millionaire is truly the show that made me want to work in the genre, so I’m protective (if that doesn’t sound too pathetic).
Idle thought, I wonder if they’re adding a Trade Up/Parquet Voleur element? The way the audience seating has changed suggests more than one contestant – maybe they’ll be ten, each one answering a question for a random amount of money known only to them which they can somehow swap with someone else, with the person correctly answering the highest valued question getting the chance to play for the big money? I don’t know.
The amounts randomly rotate? Am i understanding this correctly, that say £500 could be half way up the ladder where the harder questions are?
Surely this would just cause players to quit earlier.
I’ve seen the promo vid. Uhh…this can’t go well.
