Saturdays, 9:35pm (and various after that)
BBC1
BBC version of moderately-popular Jimmy Fallon spin-off musical gameshow, filmed in the US and seems to have some reasonable US guest star power to go alongside the UK celebs who will be playing. Mo Gilligan’s hosting, and if the BBC Episode Guide is correct suggests this will be going out at 8pm in the New Year, which means he’d be clashing with himself on The Masked Singer.
In honesty I can’t say I know all that much about it so I look forward to catching up in due course. Let us know what you think in the comments.
Can’t help but this is all a bit too “American” for Saturday night primetime BBC One; everything from the sizzle reel at the beginning and title sequence to the casting and the somewhat forced nature of it all. Makes you wonder if they just commissioned it for the sake of it and not actually thought about if it’s suitable for a British audience. The Strictly lead-in will be good for it but the messy scheduling in the coming weeks doesn’t help matters. Also think Alesha Dixon would be a better host for it too.
2.7m last night following SCD 9.2m inheritance.
Alesha Dixon having to sing a Stormzy track to the tune of a Disney song made up somewhat for the other 59 minutes. I suspect I’m not in the target audience for this one though!
Finally caught up with this show, and oh.
It is a very, very long 59 minutes, Alesha is the best thing on the show (by some way).
Mo is trying too hard, and really lacks the spontaneity of a Lee Mack or Michael M, it a shame as he has great potential.
The format jumps around too much with too many different and sometimes dull games, and the songs are just too long. Kermit the Frog singing was great for 15 seconds… not a hole bloody song.
