Ouch. It was never going to be a million on the BBC but a 95% real term cut in the 2001/2 prize has to be one of the biggest cuts in jackpots from one series to the next.

It’s easy to say “but it’s the BBC” but this is a BBC which limits Pointless Celebrities to £2500 but then has tens of thousands up for grabs each episode on The Wheel. Considering the jackpot is only won in one of the sixteen episodes they could perhaps have pushed to £250k, though TBH I’d rather see that money spent on screen doing the challenges right than go into the winners pocket.

And as if to prove the point the random winner of The Wheel got £116,000 tonight.

P.S. See from the recently filmed Pointless Celebrities on tonight there is now a £500 bonus for three pointless answers in the final, so be interesting to see if that transfers to the daily show. Always thought they should get double the jackpot for three Pointless answers.

Unrelated note, but I tried out ITVX for the first time this weekend, but so far, the only thing I’ve watched is a Mumfie reboot.

What has happened to my life?!

Are we talking about ITVX or Mumfie?

Because, honestly, I’m not a fan of the steaming service’s “Polo Citrus Sharp” colour scheme and that new Mumfie’s not a patch on the original IMO.
