Misc.

By | May 25, 2010

Lots of big threads recently, so here’s a post for any miscellaneous stuff that comes up.

  • Anonymous tip-off suggesting BB US is going to the evenly-spaced nights of Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday at 8pm ET, first show 8th July, first eviction 15th July.
  • Series 2 of The Cube records in June. Tickets from Lost in TV here.
  • Some (pretty unexciting if I’m being honest) photos from the Blind Date episode of Wipeout on Facebook.
  • Big Brother 11 UK to begin 9th June at 9pm.

And incidentally, whoever bought a ton of gift certificates off Amazon through my affiliates link several months ago which I’ve just discovered – much appreciated, thanks very much!

It’s Wednesday instead of Tuesday this year for a couple of reasons: CBS has a very successful drama lineup on Tuesdays and didn’t want to break it up this summer, and it might also be to get people to get used to watching a reality show Wednesdays at 8, which is where Survivor will be at this fall.

Let’s hope that the producers of “The Cube” are coming up with fresh games to go along with some of the best and/or most popular games from the first series. And let’s hope that somebody will upload the series, when it is broadcast, so that it might be seen throughout the world.
Oh, and if CBS would announce whether they are greenlighting the US version of “The Cube” as well. . .

It hasn’t appeared in the 2010-2011 line up so it’s definite they haven’t given the green light.

Then again, that’s more the fall/spring line-up, that doesn’t include this summer, right? Perhaps they’re just really slow in announcing it? Haven’t they already done the taping for it?

There hasn’t been a definitive no- CBS hasn’t done all of their summer schedule yet, so until I see a full lineup, there’s still a shot.

The Sun article that Digital Spy quotes is here: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/2987748/Channel-4-bosses-in-Graham-Norton-gaffe-on-Million-Pound-Drop-quiz.html

Shouldn’t that be “Endemol producers”? And no, Norton didn’t say that “yesterday”, unless Radio Times has an incredibly fast turnaround.

Still, good to know that “The fact that the accounts may be fake had no impact on the answer.” Of course… it’s just the *question* that’s wrong. Unless the Twitter account ( http://twitter.com/grahamnorton ) isn’t fake after all – it’s not updated all that often and looks to have been largely abandoned prior to the Radio Times interview. There’s a few posts on it this past weekend, which doesn’t negate what he said in the interview.

Always a risk with any quiz show – live or not – but really not worth making a fuss over. If it had been a fake Fabio Capello account it would be a different matter.

No problem, I’m just not convinced new episodes are going to bring up anything interesting that yesterday’s show didn’t already do.

Well, anyway, the answer to the first question tonight was obvious even before the actual question came up.

Liked the audience cheering Will and Gemma as they placed all their, er, units on The Duchess of York.

Purely out of curiosity, does anyone know the name of the font that “Commentary, guesswork and idle speculation…” is in?

I know it’s the font used in the 1992 and 1993 series of the Krypton Factor, and I’ve seen several other uses of it, but its name eludes me.

It’s called Emblem. It’s on that huge Gameshow Font Pack I uploaded sometime in 2008. No idea where it went.

Sadly not. I’ll have to go diving in there. But not now, I need sleep. I’ll try tomorrow.

OK, it’s SOMEWHERE in 2008. No idea where, though. I think it’s towards the end.
