We are *always always always* going to feature old Krypton Factor that finds its way onto Youtube, and it looks like this channel’s uploaded almost the entire original 1977 series.
SPOILERS, we’re skipping to the final as it features a) an intelligence test it took me until the end to figure out and b) a hilariously waterlogged assault course. The playlist is here.
Also on the channel likely of interest: five episodes of The Satellite Game.
I am so, so happy they dropped the Personality Round after this first series.
That Intelligence test in episode 10 was interesting as well- 26 pairs of drawings shown for 2 seconds each, 8 are different from each other…
And didn’t I read the first season or two didn’t have a mid-show commercial break?
Most of them didn’t until the 90s! As I recall, it came under the education budget so it couldn’t have adverts – I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
The first round is a work of baffling wonder.
It’s never good when the host spends 30 seconds explaining the rules of the round, only for the first words in commentary are “it’s a lot easier than I explained”
Thanks, Gordon
There’s a lot of interesting (and random) material on that channel including some previous VHS releases, so binge out now, before the inevitable copyright strike by BBC Studios Worldwide..
The first round seems to have combined Intelligence with Mental Agility, and the Personality round, while not unenjoyable, would have worked better on another show. The straight track for Physical Ability was better, and I can see why they went from +/- 1 point to +/- 2, as the former made a come from behind victory too difficult. Still, not a bad beginning.
