It’s time to rattle those pots and pans! (*)

Who else but Rylan Clark-Neal resides over two pro-am teams of cooks coming up with meals in twenty minutes made from a variety of items from the contestant’s shopping bags, but now there’s a second round with all sorts of mystery ingredient twists – i.e. they’ve turned the quickie bag into part of the competition.

Has TV been missing Ready Steady Cook? Let us know in the comments.

(*) This might have been Ainsley on Can’t Cook Won’t Cook, it was a long time ago.

Yeah this was fine, felt like there was more between cookery chat than in the original but that can’t be true.

Main annoying thing is that Bother’s Bar faves Foster and Bolam have done a theme that alludes to the original but never actually goes there, which is irritating.

It seems most of the sound stings have actually been retained from the last series of Ready Steady Cook, where a lot of things were given a “modern” coat of paint.

I quite like the funky theme, although it definetely feels as if they had a 20 second title sequence at one point and chopped it down to err…5 seconds

Nice to see they’ve brightened up the studio a bit, and gone back to the voting cards rather than the light nonsense, there was no fun in a computer sorting the results out as it meant Ainsley couldn’t rig ‘just a couple more red tomatoooooes!’

Rylan was actually good value too, he got stuck in about as much as Ainsley did (although apparently he has some form of fish phobia so that’ll be interesting), the chefs seemed to be enjoying it too which was nice to see

Yes I’ve just had this pointed out to me on Twitter. It’s a fair cop, guv.

I bet it annoyed me at the time though.

A well-put together show. Enjoyed listening to in the background of doing other things.

Looks like this has been lined up for a second series, applications until December and filming in January, interestingly no real mention of the dreaded virus word (We’re looking for pairs, be they relatives, friends, or colleagues to compete against each other and hopefully learn some new culinary skills.) so not quite sure how they’re going to approach it, let alone an audience holding up the infamous voting cards!
