We’re only a month away from the Bother’s Bar/UKGameshows.com Poll of the Year 2019, the fifteenth anniversary. The traditional gift for 15 years is crystal, and you can be sure we’re working extra hard to force a Crystal Maze joke for the intro.
This year we’re probably going to move to Google Forms, if only because hopefully it will make collating easier and also you shouldn’t have to fill everything in all in one go. A traditional e-mail option will also be on offer.
It’s always a good idea to check out the New Shows page, which may not be exhaustive, so if there’s a show that probably should be on there that’s been missed let us know and we can fix that.
As there’s an audio category these days, The Birthday Game should be on the list of new formats.
I think Podcasts come under the New Media category, although lines get increasingly blurred so will be something to cogitate on going forward.
Will Revivals be up for vote? I noted a lack of entries marked with “[R]” in the New Shows list (eg Rylan’s Supermarket Sweep). What other revivals have there been this year?
Blockbusters
How telling that I completely forgot about the Blockbusters revival!
Revivals are always up for the vote.
Another thing to think about is that the delightfully silly sausages at Fingers on Buzzers are doing a live show and tickets are available. Sunday 9th February, 9:30pm-10:30pm, North London (in Islington, a little bit less than half a mile from the original The Crystal Maze Live Experience location) which means that if you live outside London then you might well be struggling to get transport home afterwards, especially as it’s a work day the next day, so thanks for that. Happily for me, I expect to be in town.
Where are we at with a Bother’s Game Night Christmas Special? It feels weird missing two nights in a row.
Schlag den Star Non-Christmas Special – 14th December
Bother’s Bar Christmas Game Night – 21st December.
It’s another one I can’t make :< Chicanery!
I blame the baby Jesus.
Except: Boyard Land’s coming December 21st, so it might be pulled back to the Friday.
