The Bar is getting several referals on a daily basis looking for information on Fort Boyard 2010. The truth is, there’s not much information out there yet, but I do keep an eye on the Fort Bavard forums for news now and then, here is the intelligence other people have gathered that I’ve nicked:
- Olivier Minne will be hosting without a co-host, the first time that’s happened in twenty years.
- Celebrities are out in the main and teams will be formed by civilians.
- It’s going to be a two team version of the show which has found some success in Europe. It is better than Conquer Fort Boyard, but I’ve still yet to see a two-team version that is properly convincing and doesn’t feel slightly anaemic.
- Seven episodes are being filmed this year, down from the usual ten. They are filming at the end of May. New challenges revealed middle of June, allegedly.
- Other countries filming at the Fort this year include Algeria, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and possibly most excitingly, Germany. Mmm. Scandinavian versions apparently off the back of the successful Danish relaunch last year.
Germany, eh? Oh hell yes. Quick, find another Rednex song that fits well as the theme tune.
Yes indeed that would make sense… if memory serves late May.
(Guess I’m not getting a callback…)
Brig, can you give the gist of the the two team format?
Basically, two teams of four, depending on the version they play the same or different key games for a single key, and usually different adventures for two keys. These are often punctuated by “duels” for keys, mainly of the climbing things very fast variety. Being locked in a key game means the opposing team get a key for free.
Teams require a certain amount of keys (usually eight) – not having those keys means a penalty for the treasure room either restricted use of hands or a time penalty for people. Teams have their own places to deposit their gold. The team who has collected the most gold wins – this rarely produces a surprising result.
I personally hope its more like the russian format rather than the tri format. But then again. the french show is longer.
I also heard there mixing in key and clue challenges. which is sounding abit like the Armeria tv version but with 2 teams
The Million Pound Drop is to debut at 10pm on 24th May – why on earth 10pm? Are they trying to turn this into some late-night cult hit?
Bizarre, bizarre scheduling.
I think that’s sort of the idea – 10pm is the new 8pm. Or something.
I’ll stick this up on the front page.
Always thought Fort Boyard could easily translate into a two team affair, but with the losing team dropped after the key games so the winning team face the adventure challenges alone.
To be honest, that’s not the worst idea ever. Although you’d need a convincing way to deal with the losers.
