Going all in: Katy Wix will win this series
I still think Jo Brand might surprise.
Well I thought Ed Gamble personally.
Having now caught up with episode 1, think I agree with this.
Did we know that Swedish Taskmaster won (the viewer-voted) Program of the Year 2019?

Really Interesting video here “The Incredible Storytelling Of South Korean Reality TV”- focuses on The Genius:
The Chinese theme from season 8 has been abandoned in favour of the original theme. This means it does have a connection relating to the crystal maze. Must of been testing the waters or he was giving a hint as this went out prior to the announcement.
Eh? I think this whole thing has been completely overblown. There’s been a different art style in every different series, and I think they were just tying in series 8’s manga painting with other Asian influences.
I assumed it was due to 8 being a lucky number in Asia
Yeah, but the seal logo was also adapted. this was an unusual additional change. Understand the artwork but this was an unnecessary change.
I’m so confused.
It’s Taskmaster, this probably won’t surprise anyone, but: The phone number works.
I love it when a cheap joke like that actually works. They could have used one of Ofcom’s “drama numbers”, but they actually went to the effort of setting up a proper thing. Tom Scott did something similar in one of his videos on the Matt and Tom channel
Here it is, if you are abroad or want to save the pennies (volume was very quiet for me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHZDcCjo3wg
Is anyone from these parts planning to attend the Taskmaster picnic and subsequent tour of Chesham, as announced in the Taskmaster book, this Saturday?
I’m pondering it, but I don’t drive and public transport is nontrivial.
I appear to be on a train.
From context: at least you, Dan and a good couple of hundred people all turned up – maybe even a few hundred. (I wasn’t there, sadly for me.) Little Alex Horne appeared to give out many signed “I completed Task 185” cards and to appear in photos. There was a mass attempt at keeping an inflatable watermelon in the air. What else happened?
Far more people arrived than were anticipated, it appears; we walked a long way through Chesham to a back alley with a bunch of garages, were told that there were far too many people to fit, and walked back to the park again. From overhearing and looking at the map, we were at the back of the football ground, it sounds like the intent was to go into the hospitality suite.
Back at the park, Alex then signed books and posed for photos for over three hours, while we all socialised. And at one point a particularly wonderful fan turned up in the sweltering heat with a bag full of Callipos and strong lager, and offered them around, which I think was the most perfectly Taskmastery moment of all.
I’ve seen an unofficial tweet claiming that they were expecting maybe a hundred and got nearly a thousand, I’d love to see official numbers; it was utterly packed.
There was talk that the inflatable watermelon attempt was a world record attempt – and I did notice Alex putting feelers out to Guinness earlier in the week – but I’m not clear if it was formally tracked.
Enjoyable puzzly tasks this week.
Unless I’m missing something, or unless things are being edited out, there are still tasks involving blindfolds where either (a) it doesn’t say in the rules you can’t take off your blindfold, OR (b) it DOES say you can’t take off your blindfold but it DOESN’T say you can’t move them so that they’re still on your head but not covering your eyes.
I don’t think anyone’s tried this in any of the nine series.
Surely it’s only a matter of time before someone does, where there will be a hilarious argument with Greg. In a more serious show a big loophole like this would annoy me, but the best tasks I Taskmaster often have to be solved with lateral thinking like that.
Series 9 episode 4 must be one of the very best episodes they’ve had, and all five contestants are good value.
The level of planning they had on the ‘letter’ task made me appreciate the show even more.
More great tasks this series. The egg one had me thinking. I don’t know if it was possible/allowed to move the metal things. Besides that, I noticed there was a small hole drilled in the top of each pipe, so it would be possible to put a string (or ripped bandage?) through there and thread it back to your chair.
