Spoilers if you haven’t watched the Series 7 Finale below
As noted on Twitter, the first time the female contestants outnumber the males. However I didn’t realise until just now that the number of female champions as of tonight outnumber the number of male champions. In fact there hasn’t been a male winner since Sir Bob of Mortimer, so three in a row for the ladies.
I’ve seen a couple of comments online that the S8 lineup is much stronger than the current series, however they have put two mega household names in in one series which they don’t often do and unknown doesn’t necessarily mean bad – Lou is the breakout star of this series IMO and thoroughly deserved her win (quite pleased that I tipped her when she was announced)
Getting my series numbers confused above. Apologies, was tired!
Personally looking forward to Wix’s and Brand’s attitudes to the tasks.
Given Jo’s attitude in other shows, she might be quite like Paul in this series.
I think Brand might be more successful than Sinha, if only because of her background as a mental health nurse probably means she’ll be pretty good at the practical tasks.
Felt this was an excellent series of Taskmaster which got better as it went along. I found Lou was really funny, Sian was aggressively nice and sincere, I really warmed to Joe and his awkwardness as the series went along, and Paul was hilariously crap throughout.
Considering I felt the show was on its last legs in a series 6, it really has turned itself around the last couple of series.
I still think S7 is probably the best series, largely because all the contestants were funny and consistently terrible at the tasks, but this series had more variety and felt more like a ‘normal’ series of Taskmaster.
I do think the quality of the tasks has dipped a little as they’ve extended the series to 10 episodes, with tasks generally providing less opportunity for creative workarounds and misdirection.
I really, really laughed at the reveal of the final routes in the scooter task, especially Lou’s, so beautifully presented.
FWIW, Wix was a co-host on not-that-good-but-still-unfairly-written-out-of-history-imo BBC Three comedy-quiz The King Is Dead.
She was also one half of Channel 4’s Anna and Katy. Channel 4 have done a good job of keeping it offline. The series had lots of sketches that didn’t do it for me, but I howled with laughter at their pseudo-German parody of Countdown, Kuntworts.
I am hopeful about the series 9 line-up.
Oh my.

Surely the big gameshow association with Katy Wix is that she’s in Not Going Out and had a major role in the Pointless episode?
Not Going Out Pointless episode? I thought that was every episode…
That sound you hear is about $30 million down the drain- Night 2 of Love Island US was had about the same ratings as the premiere- which was enough for fourth in the timeslot… it hurt BBUS a little; they were 2nd in their new timeslot- but it was against a special show (the ESPY’s- Think the US version of Sports Personality of the Year).
I liked this series, but didn’t love it. I feel like Lou was *very* generously marked in some challenges. I mean, in this episode alone she probably should have been disqualified for not actually making legs and I don’t think the final task was very well thought-out (or at least as well thought-out as it should have been!)
I think in general, Greg is getting a more generous marker as the show has gone on across the board, eg with multiple contestants getting three or so points on individual tasks and nobody zero.

Ooh, this feels very Call My Bluff!
Except without an actual bluff in there. And besides, I think I’d argue that Fibbage is *most* of Call My Bluff.
This, to me, feels more like a word version of Civic Doodle, particularly in how it’s got a Consequences-esque element of each round filling in a specific new part of the definition.
Any news on another Champions of Champions. Would make sense to do another this Christmas with the 4 latest series winners and the defending Champion of Champions.
An idea I saw suggested on Twitter was a
short Winner of Losers series, where it works like Champion of Champions but the contestants have all finished last before.
Alex Horne has addressed this before, he explains that he doesn’t think it’d be a good idea to reward losing.
Fair enough, though it’s hardly like it’s a really serious format where it would matter so much.
I think that if they decide to do another Champion of champions, it would be the next five new Champions from Series 7-11.
