i.e. Vote in an Election Day.
Bother’s Bar normally takes a strong editorial stance to avoid “issues” – if you want to know about proper news and disasters, go to a proper news site or a properly well-researched blog. It is not my job to preach to you outside the gameshow arena, where what I say is pretty much gospel let’s be honest.
However, if you can vote in the proper general election in the UK then you really probably should. Then, citizen, you can enjoy your sixteen hours of David Dimbleby (IT IS SORT OF LIKE A GAMESHOW) guilt free knowing that, well, at least you tried.
And once you’ve voted for the future of the country, you should then turn your attentions to the Gameshow General Election and decide on the future of television. Turnout has been a little bit lower than usual so far, so your votes will carry a greater weight. The ballot boxes will be closing at 10pm BST.
Enjoy the spectacle, celebrate or commiserate, and I’ll be back with possibly a new feature at the weekend. Or at least a box for Schlag den Raab.
Edit: Forgot to mention Mad Cap’n Tom, off of Only Connect. Sorry Mad Cap’n Tom. In the unlikely event of you living in Wesrtminster…
I would vote for the Mad Cap’n but I live about 100 miles outside where he actually is standing for.
Christ, how have I done this post and not mentioned Mad Cap’n Tom?
Try and italicise individual letters in the post to spell out VOTE MAD CAP’N TOM.
And if you are, remove this post. Then they’ll never know.
I quote here from the BBC News Website:
“We wouldn’t want people coming in with overt political clothing,” says Mr Tonkin. However it is all about context. “There’s a candidate standing in Westminster as a pirate. And if he comes in to vote in a pirate costume as is likely, we won’t turn him away. The same goes for any supporters coming to vote as pirates.”

Well done Cap’n Tom!
What we need is a special POLITICAL edition of It’s a Knockout, with Richard Bacon.
Did I just spot Mad Cap’n Tom in the Channel 4’s Alternative Election audience?
Yes, he said he’s there for the first couple of hours. You’ll be unlikely to see him at the count because it’s a safe seat so it’s not televised.
84 votes!! Well done Cap’n Tom, very commendable.
