Sorry, I’m a bit drunk writing this this evening but that just adds to the exciting fun, right?
- The Bother Series of Poker Game 7 (8pm/1500 ET, Sunday, Full Tilt) – I’ll stick the results and discussion page up tomorrow morning. Edit: Here you go.
- Scream! If You Know the Answer (7pm, Sunday, Watch) It’s celebrities answering questions and things on rollercoasters at Thorpe Park! I can’t take Thorpe Park seriously since the rapids became so gentle, but even so theme parks are cool so i’ll probably give it a bash. Tonight is a double-bill! It’s Hold Tight for the etc!
- Mission 2110 (5:45pm, CBBC, Monday-Wednesday) I actually didn’t think this started until next month, so good news there. Will Caleb destroy the Roboidz, or will fate conspire to turn him into his evil father, Sheriff Buck?
- The Amazing Race (Monday, CBS) A lot of people claiming that this has been a bit of a rubbish season, but to be honest whilst the Cowboys and the Super Mario Detectives are still in it, I’m not sure that’s an opinion I have much truck with really. To each their own, I suppose.
- The Gameshow General Election (10pm, Thursday) If you haven’t voted yet, make sure you do. I’m also planning on staying up and watching the actual election results, although I will probably fall asleep by about one.
- Survivor (Thursday, CBS) – not watched last week’s episode yet. Although I’m sure it was brilliant.
- Schlag den Raab (7:15pm UK/8:15 Germany, Saturday, Pro Sieben/Naughty live streaming) – it only seems like a couple of weeks since the last one. That’s because it’s oinly been a couple of weeks since the last one. Expect no mountain biking for €500,000.
Right, I’d quite like my bed now.
Here goes with my last Who Dares Wins recap for this series.
After brilliantly naming more than half of the Scottish Football League teams last week, Rob and Asha continued the impressive form, having no trouble with characters in the Batman films since 1989 and then naming 20 Commonwealth nations – including a good few in Africa.
They then added £15k to their kitty with their knowledge of Bruce Willis films.
But, as has been the case throughout this series, their reign as champions was to prove not to be a long one. On came Adam and Dawn – and I ask again, is it possible that 12 Yard have developed something of a preference for man-lady pairings?? There’s been a vast majority of them this series, and if they do pair people at random, assuming even numbers of men and ladies, well then the chances of this vast majority can’t have been high at all.
Anyway, R & A were let in on the 50 best-selling classical composers in the UK, and got more than halfway before saying “Faust”, which is an opera. And even with Rob being in sports journalism, they couldn’t have been confident about county cricket teams, as they invited their opponents to name ten. A & D could have slipped up, though, as they nearly went with Suffolk and also suggested Buckinghamshire.
But slip up Adam and Dawn didn’t, and after Dale Winton appeared in Lottery HQ to talk about In It To Win It 2012 – which doesn’t sound as if it’s anything more than IITWI with an Olympic theme tacked on – they faced US states whose names end in ‘a’. And they provided at least some excitement as they made their way to the £50k jackpot – a fittingly great way to close out a great series.
We may have waited over a year for it, but it was well worth the wait in the end, and if Auntie doesn’t commission a fourth – whether or not this turns out to be delayed – then something must be seriously wrong with her.
Sheriff Buck, what a villainous name!
Fear runs down my spine everytime I see it!
Mr weaver rights a very interesting article on the differences of ‘fair’ and ‘just’ on the pages of UKGS today.
One amendment worth adding though. Goldenballs actively promotes lying and cheating, and whilst it isnt my cup of tea, it has enjoyed a modicum of success.
Isn’t Stefan Rabb attempting to beat another random German school teacher/bored office worker this Saturday from 7.15 / 8.15cet?
Good spot, added.
Total Wipeout: 3.9m (24.4%)
Who Dares Wins: 3.9m (16.7%)
The Whole 19 Yards: 4.2m (20.3%)
Over the Rainbow: 5.2m (24.6%)
Britain’s Got Talent: 10.3m (43.9%)
Once again, Prime Minister Simon Cowell has acheived more viewers than the “Who Should Run the Country? The Third Conman Debate” and getting double figures. Another excellent rating for Total Wipeout. Also credit goes to 19 Yards for again hitting the 20% share. Kerknows, respectable to end the series.
Another thing to add to the Board of Excitement, the latest episode of Double Cross has gone up on the Buzzerblog site, with me and David Howell on it going against an American player since t’other Alex kept dropping off Skype! 😀
Nice to put some voices to names on here.
I will download after work. Cheers!
If anyone was wondering, I was t’other A-*connection drops out*
We had a few issues but it ended up OK. I’m going to keep working with contestants who had connection problems and get them on. I’m not screwing anyone over. We’ve had really big success with this and a 2nd advertiser wants in, so I’m nearly positive we’re having a second season (potentially bigger money?) and anyone who had issues in season 1 will be invited back to season two. Everyone who was on this week did great, so thanks a lot for letting me be a pain in the ass and plug this stuff constantly. And that’s the last time you’ll hear ass-plug in the same sentence from me.
We’re looking at launching a new game show later this summer and we may go for outside ideas. Not sure yet. I’m thinking about a music quiz. Dan Peake stumbled upon something great, and I’m having a ton of fun doing this. I really recommend others to do this sort of thing if they think it seems fun. I’m lucking out because I don’t have network interference, I can do what I want, and the results turn out really fun. You can’t ask for anything more.
I think Double Cross has a few issues, but ultimately I think it’s great that you’re going out there and doing it and being successful.
Thanks. The format will be changing in season two and will be vastly simplified so I’m hoping we can make it even better. I’m always open for any ideas of course, too. I’m nothing but easy.
4.2million is reasonable figures for TW19Y’s, but, I would like to see the 15 min breakdown of viewers during the whole hour. I’d like to see if it starts off around 4m at 7pm – or (more probably) starts off low and rises upward during the last 15 mins and thus the closer to BGT start time.
Breakdowns
The Whole 19 Yards
19:00 – 3.6m (17.8%)
19:15 – 4.0m (19.7%)
19:30 – 4.0m (19.4%)
19:45 – 4.8m (22.6%)
Over the Rainbow
19:15 – 4.8m (23.4%)
19:30 – 5.0m (24.4%)
19:45 – 5.5m (25.7%)
20:00 – 4.4m (19.6%)
Who Dares Wins
20:15 – 3.7m (15.7%)
20:30 – 4.0m (16.7%)
20:45 – 4.4m (18.0%)
Hmm.. Interesting.
Couple of things. My theory about TW19Y’s starting low was right (thanks) but, I have to give credit that it holds 4 million steady for the 7.15-7.45 slot.
I guess you can attribute the 0.7million increase for the Knowles is because some of the BGT audience get bored with the constant screaming and shouting and want something a little quieter.
More curiously is the 1.1million that left BBC One between 7.45-8.00. I guess they all went to ITV1 (or the snooker)
I noticed BBC aired the In It to Win It 2012 promo before The One Show tonight. Given I have been following the show since it started in 2002. I am sure this is the first time since 2005/2006 BBC are actually airing promos for IItWI outside Saturday primetime. That means they don’t want to rollover to ITV and Britain’s Got Talent.
