I’m out this evening, but don’t let that stop you from having a chat about tonight’s shows such as The Whole 19 Yards, Total Wipeout, Who Dares Wins etc.
I’ll avoid the thread until I’ve watched them in the morning.

Thing I spotted: Long Distance China from Total Wipeout was in Fort Boyard UK 2003.
19 yards seems to have phone in overload – 3 seperate call and lose’s – worse than saturday night takeaway
Miljoenenjacht has three too but that’s in a 90-minute slot, so that’s the highest density of phone-in competitions I’ve ever seen outside of specific call-and-lose shows.
An hour really is a very flabby production. (But is this the future – the resurgence? – of call-and-lose, to return to its origins?) I’d like to think that this would have a good chance in the US, and – taking a wild stab among people who aren’t established game show hosts – I think Ellen DeGeneres could actually do this rather well, based on the number of silly games she has on her talker.
I do like the feel of this, though; it’s not even quite so Hole in the Wall as it is Funhouse; I’m not sure whether this would have flown in prime time or not back in the days of only three or four channels. Vernon really throws himself into it, which is part of the joy; see, for instance, his reaction to the second 19-yards-completing contestant in the second round.
The music is pretty good, though The Moment of Truth did a similar chord progression a bit better.
WDW
Alex and Liz won’t be pulling funny faces anymore. The only list they played and won was the ukgameshows.com list.
It has been a blessing as the household wasn’t impressed with them, felt they were too arrogant, cocky and too big for their boots.
I will confess this series is exactly the same how The Money List went last year with any team not having any winning consistancy. I’m sure nobody has won more than 3 games this series.
Gethin Jones mentioned Dale Winton will be in Lottery HQ next Saturday. Which by my reckoning is the first current presenter since Lottery HQ was built to actually enter it and possibly start a draw.
Are Christian and Rob’s four games not counted by virtue of the fact that the first of these was at the end of the last series?
Also I thought Jon, who along with Margaret lost the champions’ crown to Alex and Liz last week, was even less likeable. If you look over my WDW summaries in the last two Board of Excitement entries, you’ll see why.
That’s what I mean by more than three games this series, nobody has won four in the third series. As you stated, Rob and Christian won the first game in series two, with their next three games in the current series.
Last night’s overnight ratings:
The Whole 19 Yards 4.18m (21.3%)
Britain’s Got Talent 10.26m (44.8%)
Over the Rainbow 4.99m (24.9%)
Who Dares Wins 3.97m (17.4%)
Thank you Mr. Bother, I can now sit outside my cave in the sun more. One more figure to add.
Total Wipeout: 3.2m (24.0%)
To analyise. Prime Minister Simon Cowell has once again got over 10 million figures and nearly half the viewing nation watching someone throwing things up. However, ITV lost out the rest of primetime last night. Who Dares Wins continues to hold up against BGT with 1 Vs 100 last year scoring a much lower rating to what Kerknowles got. Also more praise to Total Wipeout getting a 1 in 4 people watching at such an early time.
Ratings Bear will now be focusing on Jamie Cavicannotspellhissurname as The Piss Poor Prisoner only got 2.1 million last night,
No ‘twists’ this week on 19 Yards?
Also I liked the fact Vernon chucked all his cards on the floor after the 50k win, it would have been mildly amusing had the contestant then turned round and asked to play for 100k!
I was also amused that the velcro tiles were a bit rubbish.
