Promising 1,000 questions. Fiver on Kindle, £9 in actual book form.
Hopefully the difficulty standard is a bit better than the first series of the reboot. The new series begins January 1st. The book includes Fastest Finger First questions which I don’t remember from the original books (although that’s not to say they weren’t there). Links quite useful for a touchscreen Kindle.
Here’s an interesting find- the UK version of Unanimous…..
https://youtu.be/93B5izfOpBo
Loved Unanimous when it was originally on! Even it is was a tonally confused mess (The Paddy McGuinness fronted spin-off Unanimous: The Fallout was particularly confusing). I never quite understood specifically if you could vote for yourself though.
You couldn’t vote for yourself- so the idea was that it was unanimous in that everyone else voted for you (so if a second name came up in the voting, it didn’t mean a failed vote, since that could be the vote of the first person- it was only when a second vote for a second name or a third name came up that the vote was failed)
Am I right in thinking in the original US one you DID vote for yourself?
Nope, same thing- everyone else had to vote for you, but you voted for someone else..
I once worked with someone who worked on The Fallout and they said one episode got 7,000 viewers! Back then pretty much every non-scripted entertainment show had some pointless digital channel spin-off.
I remember at the time, someone said “the viewing figures were so low, it might have been cheaper to send tapes to the viewers than to transmit it” or words to that effect
I’m surprised they still make these, I used to have one of the Millionaire quiz books and I could remember the answer to almost every question.
Talking of Millionaire, of passing interest might be this new Chris Tarrant hour-long monologue where he discusses (among other things) the genesis of all the show’s catchphrases, and his Capital breakfast comps:

This is well worth a listen. Concentrates on his radio years, but there’s lots of interesting stories, and the sound editing is absolutely wonderful.
In other Millionaire news, the French version is coming back hosted by Camille Combal from their version of Strictly Come Dancing. No date is given on the announcement trailer, just soon.
…and the Italian edition is getting more episodes in 2019!
the host has still a perfect score with the “ask the host” lifeline (5 out of 5).
Avanti Un Altro! returns on January 7th
Ciao Darwin 8 (“this time it’s totally the final season, honest!”) begins in March.
Back in March (episodes for that look to being filmed now though) then based on the contestant application call, back in July.
I do hope ITV don’t suddenly decide to go back to the weekly format, or start sneaking celebrities into the studio (although I would approve of a strictly one off special with Hammond and May playing!)
I quite liked the celebrity specials when they weren’t on all the time, as an occasional thing. Dates of March and July for the next 2 series sounds like they’re following when series 3 and 4 of the original one were one in ’99, which makes sense as this series currently on started on the same day as the second series altogether.
