Mission:2110 press pack. Lacks pictures, but still sounds (potentially) awesome.
Paging Simon…
We’re still looking into the issue you found on the OC game. Could you let me know whether you have access to any BBC “extdev” (i.e. testing) system at any point?
If anyone knows Simon’s email, I’d be very grateful if you could pass this message on urgently.
Thanks,
David
Hi David
I don’t know what the “extdev” system is. I just logged in using my BBC ID.
The problem seems to have been fixed. Just played a wall, closed my browser right down, reloaded and the wall was unable to be replayed.
Walls being solved in 30 seconds suggest that some people found the loophole too.
Hi Simon,
Thanks for that. I know there are one or two people around the gameshow Interwebs who are working on the technical stuff for OC, and I didn’t know if you were one of them.
Thanks for confirming that it’s been fixed. It appeared to be a problem that affected only a small number of users, weirdly. They’re still looking into the exact cause.
I suspect the <30 second times are people using more than one computer to learn the answers then do it again.
Thanks again,
David
Thanks again Simon for alerting us to this. We tracked it down to a small glitch in a few people’s user data where, if there was a transmission problem when the User ID was initiated, no Only Connect data would be created for that user. So for those users only, it allowed them to play a grid more than once. A fix has now been applied so that even if this happens, users are locked out of a grid once played.
People who have posted have had all but their worst times removed.
Channel 4’s bunged out a batch of free-for-publication interviews to promote Iron Chef UK, and I never could refuse free stuff, so they’re now up on UKGameshows.com. Apparently the host used to write for Pingu! That’s ace.
Iron Chef UK could be the best or the worst thing ever. Because I secretly love ICA.
Same here. I have a horrible suspicion about these format twists that they’re putting in. It may be that established fans end up considering only the Friday shows to be canonical Iron Chef and the Monday-to-Thursday shows to be bizarre preliminaries mistakenly associated with the brand.
The show has to simultaneously take itself seriously while knowing it’s sending itself up, which is a fine line to walk. Ah well, not long to wait now before we find out how wrong it is…
