Not much in the way of anything I can bring myself to be bothered to write about, but there are some shows coming up in the next week you might find interesting:
- American Grit – This is going out on Fox in the US on Thursday, so you’ll have to find dark means to watch it, but it sounds very much like our sort of thing, effectively it’s Million Dollar Ultimate Hell Week With John Cena whom you may remember from non-hit Die Hard 3
rip-offinspired 12 Rounds (not that bad but the sequel with Randy Orton is better). - Bang On The Money – teams attempt to hit numerical targets bang on in a party atmosphere with DJs Rickie and Melvin. Has there ever been a TV show that proclaimed to have a party atmosphere that you’d actually like to go to? Me neither. Still, I hope the challenges are good. There’s £40k on the line. That’s on ITV on Saturday at 7pm, there will be a Show Discussion post.
- The Code – Players answer questions to try and crack a safe with Matt Allwright with Lesley-Anne Brewis in Richard Osman capacity. One of the interesting things is that the teams are of variable sizes. Good quiz credentials promised. That’s weekdaily from Monday, 2:15pm on BBC1, there will be a show discussion post.
Unfortunately I wrote a comment last weekend and I seem to have fogitten to send it, so here it is now:
RTL Plus will start in Germany this summer. It’s a small channel created by RTL to show old shows and series (RTL used to be called RTL Plus in its beginning here). And the best news: They will revive old game shows!
Three shows have been announced for a daily slot: Jeopardy, Family Feud (called Familienduell) and Bruce Forsyth’s Hot Streak (called Ruck Zuck). Apparently Ruck Zuck(a proverb meaning really quick) is the second most often show game show in Germany only behind Wheel of Fortune. No hosts have been announced yet.
And news from today: Production of You’re Back in The Room has been canceled. It was announced as a summer series alongside 500 Questions. The latter will be produced nonetheless.
I think we’re filming our version of 500Q on your set, so that’s probably not a surprise.
I quite liked RTL, but for daily stuff I was more of a Sat1 man I think.
I believe the 1000th episode of Pointless films today. Well done Bother’s Bar predicted success Pointless!
Rischiatutto, the Jeopardy! of Italy, is returning with two “pilot” episodes on 21st and 22nd April on RAI1. the first episode has celebrities, the second is the first game with regular contestants. the series will then resume in October
this week’s Mickey Mouse magazine cover is a tribute to the quiz (and of Mike Bongiorno’s old habit to litter the floor)

Suggestion on Twitter that contestant calls are going out for Rebound. Interesting. Trying to get an “official” confirmation.
Your suggestion may be correct! 😉
I will concur, as I got an email about it today
TF1 is (once again) making two pilots for Avanti un Altro in the next few days. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it as a summer tryout to gave a break to Money Drop.
Also : Lagaf’ is working on a gameshow similar to the Goose Game, but with athletic stunts. Sounds familiar, isnt’it ? Won’t be for TF1 since they break his contract after Boom’s failure that last summer.
It’s a pity he’s not in the frame for Avanti, he’d be a pretty good fit I’d have thought.
