In a surprise move, two more series (110 episodes) of Rose d’Or winning quiz show Pointless and 38 episodes of Pointless Celebs have been ordered for next year, taking the total to almost 1000. They should stop at 999 for comedy reasons. The concept of Pointless in series form seems a bit silly really these days.

Off on a slight tangent – it’s racing towards the 2014 Poll in the Bar, and because I’m rather ‘light’ on work at work, and I got bored designing badly drawn sets for my gameshow formats (yeah, before PaulB and David B chips in – I know it’s not the potential developers job to design the set as well as the format) but I started to scrawl out my submissions for said poll – and to draft out some bone dry sarcastic barbs to work on.
Putting the boot – in ultra slow motion from various angles – into Reflex was pretty easy, but apart from that, the 15 to 1 ver 2.0 and Two Tribes, I actually couldn’t think of another new show this year that I’ve actually watched.
Unless something storming is lined up in December, my submission for new 2014 shows is going to be rather light this year. Just sayin’.
Nope, I’ve been saying this on Twitter the last few days, this year has been really really really really really really really really boring. Other than Reflex there’s been nothing really even comically bad, and at least Reflex had an angle. And I like Two Tribes, but it’s hardly the next big thing.
The biggest headache for me is deciding whether to accept Release the Hounds and 15-1 as effective new shows having gone from broadcast pilots last year to full series this year, and I think I will accept them because a) I can add a footnote saying it was a problem and b) There’s so little to vote for otherwise.

Guess they’re giving up on anything for Saturday nights then and just being lazy – 38 celebrity editions is absolutely ridiculous. Are there even 304 celebrities in Britian?
And just shows how few new episodes actually air considering they’re not even close to 1000 eps yet.
